"Our sun may have a companion that disturbs comets from the edge of the solar system — a giant planet with up to four times the mass of Jupiter, researchers suggest.

A NASA space telescope launched last year may soon detect such a stealth companion to our sun, if it actually exists, in the distant icy realm of the comet-birthing Oort cloud, which surrounds our solar system with billions of icy objects.

The potential jumbo Jupiter would likely be a world so frigid it is difficult to spot, researchers said. It could be found up to 30,000 astronomical units from the sun. One AU is the distance between the Earth and the sun, about 93 million miles (150 million km)."

I knew that someone was going to say the "extra-Plutonic planet/Jovian mass" was Nibiru.

Interesting...

But why relate it to the nonexistant Nibiru?

Lol all the way up to 2012 every large planet will be named Nibiru and will apparantly collide with us. On january 1st 2013, I can imagine a few idiots jumping out of bed and thinking "Sh**! 2012 didn't happen, I have to come up with yet another doomsday theory to cause widespread paranoia."

Also, anybody wanting to relate this to Nibiru would do well to look at the distance...

30 000 AU is almost half a light year. Pluto is only ~50 AU away.

It is perfectly plausible that some gas giant or brown dwarf could be floating around the Sun a couple of thousand of AU away and escape detection.

Hercolobus is what the ancients called it although some argue that Nibiru and Hercolobus are distinct, I find it unlikely that there would be two phantom bodies on the fringes of our solar system. This link has some decent of speculative information.

There is so much in myth that seems to allude to unusual stellar phenomena such as dragons and bearded serpents and planets with halos that just maybe there is something to it. As much as I liked Velikovsky's theories there is little to suuport them at present. However, if the Sun did have a companion dark star then the plasma-verse theory wou;ld have to be reexamined.
