Definitely their best footage ever.... the last couple of episodes after the Lighthouse one were kind of cheesey. I mean, anyone watch this weeks? There was no haunting in this fat guys home. He had chemicals piled to the ceiling in his basement causing him to have effects and illusions, then his electrical box was reading past 200 on the EMF detector! WTF?

No wonder why this guy is seeing things, his whole house was a health hazard plus the disgusting mold growing in his house didn't help either. I think TAPS case workers need to be more careful when taking on a case such as this, it was a complete waste of time. If I was Jay and Gant I would've been like, hey guy thanks for nothing. They could have done a better investigation than this moron.

I was so disappointed... the Jail one, was lame, but some cool EVP's, but it seems EVP's are becoming more common like ORBS now.

Th enext episode is like a best of, or Ghost Hunters best episodes chosen by Jay and Grant, no new investigation. Does this mean the season is over alrady? :(

Excellent show. I love it, even when they don't find any evidence of a haunting.

The lighthouse episode was quite possibly one of the best episodes they've ever

done. I hope to see more like it in the future.

Am I the only person, who has never heard of these people?

I'm guessing it's the american version of most haunted, or most haunted is the UK version. Are they like the TAPS people, or are they the same thing? I'm soooo confused.

Can someone tell me what they actually did in the lighthouse episode as you can't see a thing in those pictures.

Thanx. :D

I loved that episode. I was pausing and rewinding it to get a better look at the ghost. But what the best part of show was, was the part where they review the clip with the ghost looking down the light house, they showed the part where the ghost just literally vaulted over the guard rail on up a flight a stairs. I didn't even know ghosts' could jump until after I saw that episode.

I love their show. I also agree that this weeks episode was stupid. I mean, I liked the first part, but I was really hyped up about the second one to be let down so bad. I actually KNEW it wasn't haunted when I saw the basement, because of all the chemicals and other stuff. I still watched it, though (even though I was right).

Mookie,

Ghost Hunters is a reality television series featuring Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, who are Roto-Rooter plumbers by day and who hunt ghosts at night as part of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). The show debuted in October 2004 on the American Sci-fi Channel. It should not be confused with the original 1996 Inca Productions show Ghosthunters produced for the Discovery Channel. The format was sold to the US to become Ghost Hunters.

Since the show aired, TAPS has recorded thousands of hours of audio and video footage. Most investigations turn up cold with very little activity, if at all, but occasionally they find something strange that makes the trip worthwhile. They have several good recordings of strange mists, odd lights, moving objects, and shadowy figures that manifest before the camera and disappear quickly.

TAPS does not believe every piece of evidence gathered is proof of the paranormal. To lend credibility to their investigations, the team tries to debunk what they find and look for a reasonable explanation for such things as; "cold spots" (that may be identified as drafty windows), "moving objects" (something was accidently bumped or tugged), "phantom lights" (as reflections of light form a passing vehicle), to "strange noises" that could have a more logical explanation, like a thumping branch or vermin in the walls.

Criticism

While TAPS has certainly found an eager audience for Ghost Hunters, many seasoned paranormal investigators have taken issue with the show. Some have suggested that the program does not concentrate enough on historical research of locations, favoring instead to showcase melodrama between various TAPS members, and that some members of the team seem to lack a basic understanding of how their equipment works, or what exactly they are even looking for.

This was one of the reasons that the original UK presenter Ian Cashmore did not want to be a part of the US venture after he filmed the US promos. He had very much prided himself with producing shows with a sound historical/investigational background. He wanted to steer clear of the sensational angle taken by other shows in the field, like Most Haunted.

Yeah, but it's a good thing Jason and Grant are plumbers. Because, if they weren't, then they wouldn't have been able to tell them that all of those things in Dave's house were causing the change in his personality. They also wouldn't have been able to warn him about the safety hazards in those chemicals.

Mookie,

i basically outlined what the show is about given in detail using wikipedia but now i'd like to give my critique:

flat out its alot better than Most Haunted, why?

1. TAPS has at least 15 yrs of experience in debunking

2. they rely on technological data presented

3. they try and maintain a reputation that lends them as a credible source

4. although they are not scotland yard, they are normal minded people.. tatoos, language and all with no religous agenda

5. if they find anything contrary to the normal they will go back and retry to establish credibility

6. TAPS submit their data but they do not themselves add in sound FX and music

7. any controversial material such as IE: an edited out exhale and replaced with an exhale resembling the initial exhale, they do come forward to straighten facts out.

8. they allow emotions to be transparent

TAPS is not:

1. not privliged with millions of dollars; 1hr scifi airing indpendant investors

2. not a religious group nor occult group

3. no political agenda

4. not a group of stage hoaxers

--------------------------------------------------------

the footage i posted is the best that i can present so blame me not them.

Everyone's down on the GH segment with the silly guy who had all the mold and chemicals and EMF in his house, but I think it was enlightening and important to show an investigation with this kind of result. OK, it's not thrills and chills, but it is reality. As Lloyd Auerbach says, his EMF meters have led him to discover more bad wiring than ghosts.

If we're in it for sensation, we could just watch The X Files instead. :)

The main thing about TAPS is that they don't try to go and get any kind of evidence that ghosts exist(like Most Haunted). First, they try to debunk what they get and THEN, if they don't have any explanation for it, they decide if its really a ghost or not. They have debunked so many things though, like there was an episode about the ship Queen Mary, and there was this "haunted room" in which the maid would fix the bed and next day it would be un-fixed. Well they got some video of the bed un-doing itself, and for a sec they thought it was real. But then Steve noticed there was something wrong with the tape and it ended up being someone trying to be a smartass and trying to fake a ghost video. I love that of Taps, how they debunk stuff instead of creating more drama with it.

My wife dose not like the TAPS programs , preferring the Haunting Stories Reenactments instead. I proffer the TAPS form of showing an investigation , and the different tools used to indicate a "Presence". Thermal Imaging and and EMF and Magnetic Field readings will help define the Nature of a haunting. Far more believable to me than Orb photos and high paid Mediums.

Years back my family experienced some sounds , voices , and moving objects in our home. It's a pity we didn't have the proper tools to record the happenings. Leaving us with good stories , but nothing more.

How come your wife doesn't like TAPS? They're like the best at finding something.

GH kicks ass... I cannot wait for the last Episode of this Season. They are going to research the Stanley Hotel where they based a novel by Stephen King and movie called The Shining.

It's one of the most haunted hotels in the U.S.

I'm going to enjoy next Season even more when my Paranormal Group becomes a TAPS Family member! Oh yeah!!! I am with a group called the LISPR and my group leader met up with Jay and Grant in Massachusettes last week. They had investigated a 26 room Mansion in Mass. I got the previlage of looking over the footage in our group meeting this past Friday night. If my group gets inducted into TAPS you bet your tushie I'm going to be buying a TAPS T-Shirt!!!!

:D
