Pelosi complains about Irish Illegals

OK, the headline is misleading due to space restrictions. The idiot Pelosi, is complaining that Irish illegal aliens can't even go home for a family funereal because they wouldn't be allowed to come back. My response? SO WHAT NANCY??????? They are more than welcome to come back legally. Maybe they shouldn't be here illegally. God, please smite this woman too.

From the article:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday blasted House Republicans for their intention to file a legal brief challenging President Obama's unilateral actions on immigration.

"It's ironic that...they're having this vote on St. Patrick's Day," Pelosi told a news conference.

"Last night, we had a celebration of the Irish-American heritage. While I do not have Irish grandparents, I do have Irish grandchildren, and one of them was there at the dinner and we talked about immigration."

Pelosi then turned her attention to Irish citizens who are in the United States illegally: "So, and what it's about is all the Irish who are here -- 50,000 who are here who can't even go home for a family funeral because the law would not allow them to come back into the country. They are not here, shall we say, fully documented, and we need to change the law, comprehensive immigration reform."

I crossed paths with an Irish illegal immigrant back in my college days. A very attractive but naughty young lady who exercised poor judgement in trying to mule heroin across the English Channel. She caught Interpol's eye and ended up fleeing to the US. She did odd jobs including voice overs for hentai anime (I believe she said she did La Blue Girl).

I happened to chance across her at a college party, where most of the guy were enthralled by her looks and accent. We got to talking and she ended up telling her story. My roommate's girlfriend ended up dragging me away and I never did find out what became of her after that.

Illegal means against the law. Being in any country in violation of immigration laws makes a person a criminal. Why so many are defending criminal actions amazes the hell out of me.

Eh, I guess "undocumented" is the proper term. Their crime is a civil one on the same level as that of a homeowner doing maintenance on their house without the appropriate permit or a jaywalker. Contribution to society tax wise, they are the same as the "47%" that Romney was talking about.

Maybe if Trump wins, congress will make it a felony or something. That way they can be legally be criminals to match the level of hysteria people seem to have towards them.

Here's the law:

Section 1325 in Title 8 of the United States Code, "Improper entry of alien", provides for a fine, imprisonment, or both for any noncitizen who:[39]

  1. enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration agents, or

  2. eludes examination or inspection by immigration agents, or

  3. attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact.

The maximum prison term is 6 months for the first offense and 2 years for any subsequent offense. In addition to the above criminal fines and penalties, civil fines may also be imposed.

Sounds a bit more serious than jaywalking or adding a back porch to ones house IMO.

Honestly, all countries have controls on who enters their country...some like Denmark are very, very strict. Why some people think the United States should not control immigration is quite ridiculous.

Hmm, interesting. Most of the illegal aliens I have met here didn't break those three standards. They came on a tourist visa or an H1-B or H2-B visa and just ended up over staying. They 1) entered at the designated place. 2) Were examined by immigration agents. And 3) Did the jobs they were hired to do. They just didn't leave afterwords.

The companies that hired them even seemed to encourage illegal immigration. After the term of the temporary visa is up, they usually don't pay to ship them back. They have to get their own plane ticket.

Do you think Trump pays to have his seasonal workers at the Mar-a-Lago sent back? Or do you think they just stay after their visa expires?

Or do you think someone who makes $10-13/hr for the 8 months they are hired buy plane tickets and leave. If they do like the people up here do, then they stay as an illegal for 4 months and then reapply for the H2-B again the next year using a relatives house.

The part I find irritating about the illegal immigrant debate is no one seems to be talking about fixing the broken system of quotas from (generally) Mexico and South America.

I have no problem shipping illegal aliens back, but a wall is not going to help (outside of being a CCC style make work project).

Next time Tyson gets ICE raided and 50 people get carted off take the entire board of directors to dention with them. Wait till the last possible hour to file human trafficking charges against them and ask for no bond due to flight risk. There may be a bit more of a pause in their recruiting efforts in regard to undocumented workers. Since it is a human trafficking case, freeze the company assets. Disrupting their ability to do business in the U.S. for just 48 hrs would effectively cripple the company.

So long as there are lesser penalties for such crimes, companies will continue to abuse illegal immigrants. Make the cost high enough that it bankrupts the company plus puts those in charge in jail and the incentive to immigrate illegally goes away.

No one seems to talk about the fact that net immigration is down and has been going down for years.

As far as Mexicans go, more have gone back to mexico than have come to the US. But that doesn't make for good debate BS or rile up the base, so...

And don't you think that Nancy Pelosi trying to gain sympathy for illegal aliens by trying to make us feel sorry for Caucasian illegals shows what a racist she really is?

I'd agree. This is too bad. If these people want to go back to Ireland, then they should work to get their Green Card, or work to get a new visa from Ireland. The path to Permanent Residency has been well outlined for decades.

EDIT: Nancy Pelosi is an Idiot. I don't know how she is still in government other then she must really have a bunch of uber rich people back in San Fran who support her for reasons we'll never know.
