RPM Posted September 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2014 When I was 8 or 9 I had my first OBE. I was in bed dreaming about DragonBall Z when I awoke to find it playing on the TV. I leaned over the rail of my bunk bed and told my step-brother to turn it off. After that, I quickly fell back asleep. I remember thinking about being in a rocking chair... And then it happened. There I was, floating above myself. I saw that the TV was still on. I closed my eyes tight and it felt like a flashlight appeared right in front of me. When I was able to open my eyes again, the light was gone and I was in a new dream. I went through a series of about 10 or 20 nightmares throughout this experience. In between each one of them, I would transition by closing my eyes tight and waiting for the white light. Every now and again, I would be floating above myself again. After roughly a decade, I hadn't given much mind to it. "Oh, it was just a dream." But here recently, I've been reading about astral projection and lucid dreaming. And I am next to positive that that is what happened to me. And it's even stranger because some of the experiences line up 100% with mine. And I want to do it again. Not only that, I want to get good at it. I want to be able to AP whenever I lie down. I had a lucid dream two days ago and that's when I decided to do it. I started keeping a dream journal then. I actually attempted to AP last night, but it didn't really work out. I went to bed around 7:30 PM so that I wasn't horribly tired. I gave myself plenty of time to do what I needed to do. I played some meditative music and hit the sack. After laying motionless for 30 minutes and keeping my eyes still, not much was happening. I did get a very strong sensation that my bed was spinning and I could feel myself being pulled in a circle. The feeling subsided after a few minutes. I'm not sure what the vibrations feel like as I haven't really given myself an OBE. So I couldn't tell you if I got them. I think I was too scared... Sleep paralysis sounds horrifying and I kept slowly bending my finger every few minutes to see if I still could. My throat would get dry pretty often as well. I think I'll drink more water before bed next time. So what do I do? The method I was using was to imagine a fluid flowing over my head and down my body to my toes. And at one point I literally felt as if there was a cover over my face. I'm not sure if that means I was close or not. What should I do? Was I doing something wrong? I've had a nagging in my head for 10 years reminding me of that dream. I've had a nagging in my head for 5 years telling me I could have another OBE. I've had a nagging in my head for 3 years telling me that dreams meant something. I've had a nagging in my head for 1 year telling me dreams correlated with death in some way. I've had a nagging in my head for a week telling me to pay attention to my dreams more than ever. I've had a nagging in my head for three days telling me that having an OBE will tell me something. So I want to get it over with. I want to listen to my gut and do it. I want to do it and see for myself. I've always been a scientific person. I've never believed in god or subscribed to any faith or magic ****. I've always thought that when we die, we're gone... But something always caught me when I thought about death. It always came back to dreams for me and I never knew why. So I want to know why. I want to experience it for myself and know if it's just another type of dream or if it really is experiencing a fifth dimension. Thanks for any help, UM.
