Still Waters Posted April 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2014 An assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the Graphic Era University in India has officially broken the record for the longest lecture ever, with a documented 139-hour non-stop lecture on scientific computations. http://www.theepocht...-for-139-hours/
freetoroam Posted April 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) It does not say if anyone stayed to listen. Does not say if anyone was there to listen in the 1st place. He obviously likes the sound of his own voice. Edited April 5, 2014 by freetoroam
taniwha Posted April 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Unsuprisingly he smashed another record at the same time ... The Worlds Most Boring Man.
libstaK Posted April 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Unsuprisingly he smashed another record at the same time ... The Worlds Most Boring Man. 139 hours on scientific computations? I practically started snoring before I finished writing that. It does not say if anyone stayed to listen. Does not say if anyone was there to listen in the 1st place. He obviously likes the sound of his own voice. If I was his student, i would be thinking "bonus-nap time".
6.6.6 Posted April 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2014 That equates to over 5 days of solid talking, did he not eat or sleep? I would have liked to be there for the last few hours or so, bet it would be like the ramblings of a madman!
freetoroam Posted April 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2014 But the really question is....did anyone learn anything? apart from the obvious.....bring sleeping bags to lectures about scientific computations.

pallidin Posted April 6, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 6, 2014 I was up for 3-day's straight one time, no drugs, just did it to see if I could. Got seriously "loopy" But 5.8 day's? METH kills.
highdesert50 Posted April 7, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2014 Considering the research indicates that when we are largely passive, as in a lecture format, we have a limited capacity to maintain attention. This would be about 10 to 12 minutes without a change-up of activity to allow for recovery. There are better ways to get tenure and foster sound learning. pallidin Posted April 7, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 7, 2014 Why? Good question. Sometimes there is no "Why", rather, "What the Hell did I just do"
