Guns Targetted at New Generation

questionmark

Recommended Posts

Companies promoting their products through sporting competitions. Hmm, how unheard of.

yep, companies are known to do that, but we do not have guns advertised here. We just have adverts promoting things to keep you alive. :P saying that, we do have hunters here too, but you see, I am anti hunting for sport, if people are hunting for food, then I go for that, but do not agree with taking little johnny out for a Sunday to shoot deer as a good way of target practice.

I DO know that not all the sports include killing animals, I am fine with that, its just the ones which do.

How about you teach kids about the value of human life before you give them the means to take it?

Whats the "fun" in that?

Give you a 10 out of 10 for this. :tsu:

More people are killed by baseball bats than guns every year in the USA, do you feel the need to do the same before you give a kid a ball, bat, and glove?

You have gun ads in sporting and hunting magazines just like we do. Really, if you are going to make claims at least make sure they are factual.

And that kid plays a first person shooter with baseball bats?

I was being flippant, surely you can read between the lines?..............................maybe not.

So do you agree with hunting to kill for sport? cos that was my point and i have no problem with target practice as a sport or clay pigeon shooting or hunting for food, but not to put a trophy up in your living room of some poor old Elk as a keepsake........................you do have Elks there don`t you?

No hun, we are talking about youth groups that parents are allowing their children to be involved in, which is also a choice. There are no TV ads that come on during cartoons. The only place where you will see them are on one or two TV channels that are sports oriented out of thousands of channels.

Have you been so busy inundating these gun threads with your opinion that you haven't heard a thing people have been saying? Try reading back over them without concentrating on what your comeback is going to be.

have you actually read this thread???????

I was asking a question, you have not even bothered answering but come up with some ridiculous stuff about magazines, did you not read the OP:

The industry’s strategies include giving firearms, ammunition and cash to youth groups; weakening state restrictions on hunting by young children; marketing an affordable military-style rifle for “junior shooters” and sponsoring semiautomatic-handgun competitions for youths; and developing a target-shooting video game that promotes brand-name weapons, with links to the Web sites of their makers.

All I was asking was do the parents agree with this. But you no doubt are so pro it you do not see that it is possibly that the company is trying to manipulate people for their own gains. DO YOU REALLY need this? are you not already capable of telling your children the right and wrongs about guns and getting involved in which gun they should have?

Now, please luv, answer the question instead of being so defensive....................or are you already queuing outside the shop in your tent to buy the new video game?

I'm going to hazard the guess that parents agree with this. Parental consent is usually required to participate in youth groups, and required for the handling of firearms.

The NRA has been participating with youth gun groups and instruction for decades, usually with the full knowledge of the parents.

These are usually the folks that are trying to be safe and legal and trying to pass that on to their children.

"The industry’s strategies include giving firearms, ammunition and cash to youth groups"...........and the youth groups are accepting this with open arms?

Do the parents know what is happening and do they have a say about it? Chances are many will welcome it, but it should be down to the parent to teach their child about guns, it should be down the parent if they feel they want their child to be a part of this, but Looks like no matter what the parents feel, this multi million dollar company are going to do whatever it takes to make sure they stay a multi million/ billion dollar company.

Do you seriously think that anyone is just handing guns to kids with no supervision or permission?

1. It is illegal in the US for a person under 18 to own long guns (exception is in source).

2. This (or any other company) wouldn't risk their millions being lost in law suits by just merrily handing out guns.

3. Education about guns (all kinds) is preferred to the 8 year old who has no idea how to handle one and gets his hands on one and accidentally shoots another child.

Don't keep jumping to such judgmental conclusions.

You have been told in many threads that the laws in the US don't allow under 18 to own guns. In every thread you seem to ignore everything that is explained and just jump to the idea that we are all a bunch of gun happy, quick draw, unthinking, violence loving citizens.

Hey just because I condone something doesn't mean I care for it much or at all. I don't like killing animals. Shot a few birds and squirrels when I was younger just for the heck of it, with a pellet gun. I've never shot a rifle. The last time I ever thought about it I had a groundhog in my crosshairs. The gun had a scope. I aimed right between his eyes. Two things that happened at that moment. I realized that I would have probably just severely injured it and second thing was I realized I didn't want to kill it at all. It was cute and didn't do anything to deserve it. I was maybe 16 and never thought again about killing an animal. I love animals. Got an awesome dog and a floppy eared bunny. Now I'm not PETA either by any means. That said, I don't care for killing animals for the sake of it but I'm not up in arms about it either.

There is a gun range close to me owned by a rich local family. The entire store is a trophy display of exotic mostly African animals. I think it's really neat while at the same time I don't think highly of the guy who killed them all. Here is a link with some pics http://www.anthonyarms.com/contact.php It doesn't show much. There are literally dozens of animals including elephants, grizzly bears and giant crocodiles. They used to have a lot more pics on the website but anyhow. Yes, they do own a tank too. It just appeared there one day and sits there as advertisement.

Oh i can read between lines, but most who hunt deer may get the head mounted they also keep the meat for food.No i do not agree for someone to just kill anything for sport for the purpose of looking at it,just saying i have never met 1 single person who does that!No elk here just more deer than most can account for,and anyone who kills one with a bow or rifle has plans on eating it!

Hubby and I hunt. Elk and deer. Hubby used to contract with the local BLM for varmint control. We also fish. We eat what we kill. We have the evil mounted heads in our home and *gasp* even fish mounted.

Hubby used to do the varmint control for the ranchers and BLM because of the damage that beavers, badgers, prairie dogs, coyotes, etc. do to the stock and property. Humans have managed to wipe out most of the natural predators. No predators means starvation and disease for the animals.

BUT we also own guns because we enjoy shooting and competition. (Usually with each other.)

Which you seem to have ignored.

No 2, this is want i wanted to know,

Right, because you assumed that in the US it's ok to hand guns to kids unsupervised with no permission even though it's been explained many times to you that it's against the law and most people aren't that irresponsible. Is it legal in England to hand porn or alcohol to a child under 18?

N0 3. Wow, now thats a problem!!!

Unsupervised children hurting each other by accident is a problem period.

Does this mean that all those working in the youth clubs will also get full training?

Did you read the article? It's clearly explained that some of the funding goes for this exact thing. Even the little quip in the first picture shows a professional training a young person.

See, its not that difficult to just answer a question.

Must you be snotty?

99% of hunters also agree. Who here has posted that they like killing for the sake of killing? Please point it out.
