Sir David Attenborough's wildlife documentaries are not a true reflection of nature because they fail to acknowledge animals' "gay" behaviour, an academic has claimed.

Dr Brett Mills of the University of East Anglia accused the veteran broadcaster of espousing the idea that all animals are heterosexual despite a wealth of evidence they engage in a variety of sexual activity.

Sir David is advised what to broadcast, anything objectional would be "cut" from the programme which is family designed watching,and "gay" animals dont come into that category,if there is such a thing.A wild animals prime objective is to find food,whether "gay" or not, and procreation comes a seasonal second, so Mills is spouting a load of K-rap, or maybe he is just jealous.

As I tweeted earlier today, my colleague Brett Mills is having a bit of an odd day. He has been pilloried on CiF, readers of the Indy website have said rude things about him and (apparently, I haven't heard it yet) Gabby Logan on Radio 5 asked him if he gets off on watching mice have sex.
Why this vitriol? Brett, a Senior Lecturer in the Film and Television Studies School at UEA, recently authored a paper arguing that animals have a right to privacy, a right frequently violated by wildlife programme makers.


So some nutter in the U.K., Dr. Brett Mills, has recently published an article claiming that animals have a right to privacy and that nature documentaries violate that right. The kicker? This nutbag isn't even a biologist. He's a faculty member of the University of East Anglia's school of film and television studies.

This is ridiculous, does this mean that every man who would rather be down the pub with his mates is homosexual.
What the article fails to mention is the sexual habits of the birds, it does not say if the male birds go to the female birds to mate and then go back to the other males for company! Which I am sure in the human world, there are many men who would see nothing wrong with that. So the BBC have a very misleading title here.

But ther eis 2 penguins that are in a homosexual relationship. They are in a zoo though.


There is loads of evidence of it not being a mishap.

I don't know why people get so bothered by it, if anything homosexual relationships help us. i see it as part of evolution if you are talking nature. Keeps the numbers down.

I wish it did keep the numbers down, among humans, but not among the "other" animals in the world.

Some animals are seen repeatedly having sexual relationships wiht the same mate from the same sex.

Well in a lot of animals they need to keep their numbers down, even if we don't like it, as it's us tkaing awya their habitat. So thye will suffer with more of their own kind tkaing their food/space away.

That's why conservation is mroe difficult than a lot of people think. If there is not enough land then we can't do anything, it's our fault though. Needs to be more prevention and less trying to fix what we can't.
