Oh, I thought that he was suing the dead guy. This makes a little more sense (but still not much).

I was rotflmao. Remember the Martin case? Everything at the scene was photographed and measured. That's how authorities were able to determine what happened. This guy removed the body. That corrupts the scene and taints the investigation. It will be interesting to see how it impacts his case. It says he was released without charges but I wonder if that will stand as is. The sheriff hasn't ruled it out and an investigation is underway.

The story says they are not going to press charges. The gun was owned by the guy who was shot. Looks like it was self defense, but he should have never left the crime seen.

I know he's been released for now but the Sheriff's Dept. isn't sure if it will press charges. He should have never left the scene, but he really shouldn't have taken the body with him. The scene tells the story. It's news up here because the guy was from this area before moving to Florida.

Gonna have to keep tabs on this one!

He definately screwed with a crime scene. A case of self defence, especially resulting in a homicide (justifiable or not) is still a crime scene. He's self admitted to interfering in an investigation.

Even if his self defence is proven, what possessed him to do that?

I imagine the shock of having actually killed someone might lead a person to do some strange things. He said he can't even remember the drive to the lawyer's office, and that seems to be consistent with reports people make about the period of time directly after killing someone. Most people who have to defend their lives did not start out the day thinking that was gonna happen.

Even if the police don't press charges, that man's family can cause a lot of trouble if they decide to fight that. Tampering with evidence(at the least), abuse of a corpse(I don't think driving a body around in the back of a pickup is considered good manners) and probably a lot of others can be added here. The Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation but the scene has been badly corrupted. The family could win a civil case pretty easily.
