Could you stand up to a charging elephant?

When a bull elephant comes charging at you, it's normal to feel like running away.

But these hikers at Kruger National Park in South Africa knew better and calmly stood their ground when the huge animal approached them with a roar.

I mean, I could probably just stand there, sure. I'd die, of course, but if the elephant gods have decided it's my time to go, who am I to complain?

Just like w/ horses, facing them is a non-submissive posture, but if you turn your back to them, (submissive posture) they will likely charge you.

A definite change of undies required.

Perhaps the elephant knew what the rifle meant? Take that rifle from that guy and see if he stands there or not. Probably he would, but likely it is because he's had dozens of experiences, so he knows what is going to happen.

Myself, I'd be scared to death.

I was able to translate the elephants dis-pleasurable noise.

He is saying "Hey, I'm trying to go potty. Can I have some privacy here?"

So true, still...

Funny how "a couple of very high-powered rifles" can give a human group "nerves of steel" :w00t:
