It has definitely been a horrific time in regards to this and the other events that have happened recently.

Old school ideals. A country trying to modernize.

Can we force western ideals on others, or do we need to let them work it out for themselves?

Gee I wonder what she did to "provoke" the rape, after all isn't it the victim that is responsible for these things (extreme sarcasm intended).

This is abhorrent and the societal mores that allowed and enabled a mind to pursue this action on an innocent child need to be addressed, they are displaying a decay of the human spirit and regularly.

I am coming to the conclusion that there are Western ideals here that they are adopting but might not be the exact ideals we want to share.

There should be a study to correlate the rise of rapes with the popularity of watching Western-style porn.

It is our own industries of porn that might be importing these ideas mixed with a climate where females have not been traditionally valued.

It is as if they had a bad bedrock when it comes to womens rights there and the explosion of pornography is the fuel to light the fire.

billions of people watch porn, and don't feel the need to rape children.
truth is, the individual who commited the crime is responsible, he made the consious decision to commit rape, and searching for triggers is an exercise in futility.
are you suggesting he was watching rape porn, or just any old porn? making sweeping generalisations like 'it was the porn I tells ya' solves nothing.
listening to heavy metal doesn't turn you into a satan-worshipper. watching the teenage mutant ninja turtles doesn't turn you into a serial killer, and watching porn doesn't turn you into a rapist.
the man who did this was obviously sick in the head to start with, and no amount of triggering can be blamed for what is obviously a broken mind.

Yes the rise of that kind of porn is rampant. This isn't your grandfather's type of porn on the net today. Everything is there open and available to all societies. It will have ramifications as we experience the first generations coming to age in such an environment. This is the beginning of those.

rape porn is a very niche market, always has been, always will be.
it's hardly a modern phenonemon either. i'm sure my grandfather was tittilated at seeing bettie page, trussed up with a ball-gag in her mouth, but I doubt he got the urge to rape little girls after seeing it.
if you want to commit rape, then you'll find a way to commit rape, regardless of whether a flat two-dimensional image 'told you to' or not.
sweden has one of the lowest numbers of rape in the world, and they practically INVENTED porn.
child abuse in india is far from rare, as their age of consent is totally different from ours, you only have to check the story of mohammed and aisha to see how deeply it's ingrained into their culture, but we in the west find it abhorrent.
i'm not having a crack at muslims btw, as india is roughly 75% hindu anyway, i'm just saying that their belief systems differ from ours, and the bigger picture should be looked at before blaming insignificancies such as porn.

You can say that about some parts of the world, but not about all. It's tough to compare our European lifestyle with those who got left behind. Especially in a society like the Indian, where both extremes clash.

Im surprised to hear that from you especially because many Germans thought that they orgins is India.
I must say that I dont agree. India is one of leading countries in the world. Brazil, China, India and Russia and then Next11 will soon be center of world. Notice there is no Germany there. Or USA. Or UK or France.

In 2007, law enforcement authorities recorded 689 victims trafficked for sexual exploitation. Most victims (419) were between the ages of 18 and 24; 184 were nationals of the country. Approximately 12 percent were under the age of 18, including 39 citizens. One percent (seven) were under 14 years of age.
The trafficking in women from Eastern Europe is often organized by perpetrators from that same region. In Cologne is 12 storey borthel called Pascha,largest in Europe. Everyday you can choose over 120 prostitutes and more then 1000 customers came per day.   There are many borthels in Germany yet we have this human traffiking statistics.

sadly L, that doesn't seem to be the case. with the advent of science, and the age of reason, we no longer need to invoke gods to justify our existence, but billions of people do just that!
if you put god on trial, the case would be laughed out of court for lack of evidence, but whole societies run themselves on the teachings of a bunch of nomadic goatherders who lived millennia ago, and use those same teachings to justify the most horrific acts of violence, discrimination, and brutality.
if that's how they see their god wants them to behave, then i'm glad i'm a non-believer.....

Huh? I was talking about the clash of extreme poverty and extreme wealth in India, which is definitely there, despite them becoming a leading force in the world.

I meant it is hard to compare our lifestyle with easily available education to parts of the world where there is almost none but traditional values, which are often wrong. And in India you have both in one country.

What have you read into my post, L?

I believe in God. Only my god dont have hands and beard. And Im glad that religions exists. Why? Because its better that people hear any moral ethic teachings then nothing.
But if you want to understand moral you must become philosopher.Not acolyte.
