Never-ending houses

Wendigo Wangs

Anyone have dreams where they find themselves trapped inside houses that never end? Usually no hallways, just room after room after room.

Sometimes it may be an underground bunker, military style, but long abandoned, or even a new construction project that is deserted, all of these have no escape to the outside.

Some rooms may have valuables in them, but in every dream you are completely lost, and just continue to venture deeper and deeper into the abode.

I have these dreams at least a few times a year. Usually they border on nightmares.

Always completely alone as well, no other dream characters...

I've never experienced anything like this, usually my dreams (when I remember them) are somewhere familiar, or somewhere I know isn't.

There's a giant served head that invades my dreams sometimes and chases me.

No endless houses, though.

I am always dreaming action taking place close to a sea or ocean. The sky is indigo and luminosity different than on earth. There is also a city with smaller streets paved, while small buildings, something like Greece, but never been to Greece.

I used to have recurrent dreams that were similar to yours, only that mine weren't nightmares.

The architecturally interesting structures, which often looked deceptively smaller from the outside,

usually had large basements with secret passages. They often contained unusual contents that

I found very interesting. And whenever something unexpectedly alarmed me, an exit was close

to me.

Once an UM member claimed such shelters were symbolic of self. About that I don't know, but

my explorations therein tended to affirm characteristics of myself that were hither to subconscious.

Can't say that I've had that one. But now that you've described it, I might.

Used to have a few of those, sometimes they were just patchwork buildings but I always had others in the dreams as well as animals and never a nightmare scene, just a knowing that where I was headed was the way out.....don't ever remember finding a way out though...

I dreamt of a similar, but more earthly, setting that's built into a steep mountainside on the waters edge.

From the water, I initially climbed up a ladder and onto a landing.

Relieved to see a family that, for their still being wet, looked like they had been swimming, I followed them

up a meandering pathway with many steps. The patterns in the cobblestone egresses mesmerized me

for a time before passersby noticed my unfamiliarity. Wanting to blend in better, I hurried to catch up with

the family and was soon relieved to inconspicuously part ways with them.

I wanted to take in my surroundings from atop the mountain. There, I glimpsed a long, winding road of the

same stone. On either side of the road were two men in uniforms. Suspiciously, they eyed me.

I turned and walked across a huge flat rock that jutted over a cove and glanced backward. The men were

after me. Their approach not only convinced me to dive but to do it in style.

The height of the precipice convinced me that I could pull-off a spectacular stunt and still have plenty of

time to straighten my body perpendicular to the water, but I awoke before reaching it.

A couple of times I had the never ending house dream. More like the Winchester Mansion, I imagine (never been there). You know, doors and staircases that lead to nowhere.

Edit: Strange architecture in dreams is probably fairly common. But, then again I have a background in carpentry.

We are lizard people et al,

Something like what was mentioned herein (post 6) -

We are lizard people,

The reason I 'liked' your OP wasn't because you have nightmares

but because you and qxcontinuum reminded me of fun dreams.

I'd have, otherwise, completely forgotten about the one with the cobblestones.

That one goes back many, many years.

To possibly help you to modify would-be nightmares into fun dreams, attempt two steps -

- First, try to imagine the five-story residence, which I once toured and whereof I repeatedly

dream. It looked like a modest single-story from the driveway, but below and buttressed

against a face of a 4-story bluff, were the lower levels. The backside of the house had

many huge windows.

- Next, look for a light in your nightmares. Follow the light to the rear stairwell.

I've had dreams/nightmares like this before but more like in a hotel, a really large hotel. I start going down long dimly lit hallways and enter occasional rooms and in them, I see cardboard cutout people (they look like the Archie comics characters the way they are drawn on the cardboard) in the rooms with laughing expressions on their faces and some have bobble heads that move also shaking with laughter. I always remember there is some fantastic way that I transition from floor to floor, like one was an elevator that spun like a centrifuge and me and several others would go flying upward or downward to the desired floor.

I am always dreaming action taking place close to a sea or ocean. The sky is indigo and luminosity different than on earth. There is also a city with smaller streets paved, while small buildings, something like Greece, but never been to Greece.

I've had dreams of being on another Earth only way larger than this one we know. Buildings and transports were way oversized and several stories higher than anything we have here. The realness of the dream though was great though...

Uh, yes. I even posted on here about it. . . I often have dreams where I am in a house, building, mall etc., with out end... with endless doors and rooms. . . one room leads to another room or door. I have one at least once a month, tho they aren't always night mares, but sometimes I am running or trying to hid from some one or something.
