Boy, 5, 'spying' neighbours complain

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

When his parents built a play pirate ship in his back garden, four-year-old Joseph Bailey was thrilled.

The wooden ship, crafted from recycled timber, became his pride and joy and the 'labour of love' was admired by everyone who saw it.

But then a neighbour complained to the council that Joseph was invading their privacy, claiming he could spy on them over the fence.

Note the source.

Remember it's the Daily Heil and they've got a hard on over the "Nanny State" so will exaggerate and outright make up stories in order to "bring light to" or "shame" the "nanny state".

Plant a tree or two. So we can all breathe a little easier and the little boy can enjoy his rum in peace!

Yohoho, narcissistic yahoos!

"But we don’t know how we would tell Joseph his ship has to be dismantled."

Let me work this one out for you;

"Little Joey, pirates were outlaws that rebelled against gov'ts (not entirely true or false) therefor the gov't has come to revoke your letters of marque thus sinking your fine vessel. Remember this lesson Joe, people in power can do what they want when they want and spying on others is the job of those people. They have also decided to cancel x-mas, Easter, birthdays and any other fun events."

Childhood saved.

What an awesome structure, I wouldn't mind looking at that piece of architectural artwork. The father (or both) obviously have some good woodworking skills.

Like someone said, the source of the article is highly questionable but sadly the attitudes of most neighbors is not.

So apparently the moment someone blubbers about something, the government is supposed to rush in and make it all better so they don't have to be "bothered" by a childs playset.

I doubt that the first thing the little kid is gonna do is grab a scope and start peeping in windows; sometimes people just need to get on with their own lives and let others to their own.

The kids parents should complain about the neighbors... After all, now the neighbors can spy on the kid...

These people should get a life. It wouldn't bother me if a neighbour's toddler in a tree house was looking over. He's just a small kid.

I hope they can work something out, it would be a shame to dismantle the Pirate Ship. The parents did a great job putting that together...

Our house in Sparks, that we lost in the recession, had a nice hot tub. It could be seen by both neighbors from their 2nd floor windows....

I did not care, and I did not charge.

"Mummy the neighbours are running around their yard naked again"

Perhaps, and I'm divided after reading the OP.

Parents: "Boy loves, loves, loves his new pirate ship."

Neighbours: "We're worried about our privacy."

Parents: "He only plays in it a few minutes a day

My question is, if he loves his new pirate ship so much, why does he only play in it "a few minutes of the day"?

Maybe because it does not have internet...

I don't recall curtains to be that expensive to buy. Also, I don't recall outside being a very private place either.
