I remember my dreams every single night.

Over the last 5-6 weeks I have had vivid and/or strange dreams which I remember in great detail every single night. Sometimes they are scary and sometimes they are just plain weird. Now it is not like I am having nightmares and waking up in a cold sweat every night... but they are really affecting my quality of sleep.

To me it feels like i am living two lives and my mental energy is really starting to wear out. I am considering if this is a matter I should see a doctor about.

Some other things I feel I should mention is that I recently quit smoking and this is around the time my dream situation started, I know that odd dreams are a symptom of nicotine withdrawl but I have been cigarette free for over 50 days now and can't see that as a cause for my frequent dreams. I also take anti-anxiety medication but not every single day and I have never had it create an affect on my sleeping/dreaming patterns.

Does anyone else expierence this or know how to surpress dreaming? I was going to see my doctor about this but not sure that a regular doctor would be able to deal with such a matter.

Western physician will likely prescribe more pills.

I'd seek out a Dr of Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal, accupuncture or qi gong treatment for something of this nature.

Likely it will play itself out and balance out soon, but I know how debilitating lack of sleep can be when prolonged... I used to deal with some serious insomnia and lucid dreaming played a role in that.

I wish you well.

From experience, I know that quitting alcohol will produce vivid dreams, so why not nicotine?

Yes I have the same problem.

I have had some success with affirmative mental commitments but that may not be enough for you.

But I tell you. Strenuous exercise will help a lot. Something like cross fit or marathon training.

Now this recommendation can go both ways simply depending on how your body deals with it. It's perfectly safe and you can get it at your health food store. It may intensify your memory of them or it could achieve your desired result without medications. ( now I know what your doc will probably prescribe I have asked several doctors for their recommendations for my very same problem just to see) now, Im only speaking for myself, but I do not want to start down the road of more and more pills. Here is my recommendation and I am a highly experienced dreamer. I have blog here " A man Awake". You can follow my struggles and successes there.

I'm going to throw in the disclaimer to always check with your doc first. But there have never been any major complications with these things like pharmaceuticals.

Week 1

30 drops of Ca poppy extract in juice, 1 tablet 5mg of melatonin half an hour before bed.

Week 2

30 drops of Wild lettuce extract in juice, 1 tablet of melatonin half an hour before bed

Week 3

30 drops of wild lettuce, 30 drops of Ca poppy extract in juice half an hour before bed.

Repeat to week 1, if your dreams intensify, stop imeadiatly it isn't working, and try dropping again dropping each one in this order melatonin, ca poppy, wild lettuce.

You are taking a week off from each thing every 2 weeks so your body does not acclimate to it.

Melatonin is a natural substance already in your body.

Wild lettuce is just well the genetically original lettuce plant. You can eat it.

Ca poppy is a herb used by native Americans for precisely your problem. It's awesome and not at all related to opium.

Remember to check with your doc ;) ;) ;).

Also remember that strenuous exercise and lots of sunshine and hydration will also help.

Edit: oh aheemmmm.... If you have a partner.... Well you get my drift. This will help in more than a few ways.

Good luck, I hope this helps and PM me anytime.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is not a bad thing. Remembering your dreams are a good thing. Dreams can tell you about stuff that you may be suppressing solisten to them.

Something worth trying would be to stop thinking about these dreams before you sleep, and instead indulge your thoughts, and simply allow your thoughts to become occupied with self indulgent thought streams.. Fantasize.. Win Lotto.. buy a mansion, go on holiday, save the world..

Personally, I've found that if your thoughts are directed towards dreams, dreaming, or even if you just l wondering what you will dream about is all the trigger you need to invoke a night of dreams..

What you pay attention to you become conscious of. So, it should be as simple as paying attention to something else..

I'm the same way! I, however, love remembering my dreams and analyzing them. I dream several dreams just about every night. Sometimes they're just silly dreams, sometimes I think they mean more. I also lucid dream quite often, although not as often as I used to be able to. You ever try to interpret what they may mean??
