Yeah look.  I see it the same way.  In fact while Turkish support to join the EU has dropped amongst the general population, probably a backlash towards Europe as a result of their rejection of Turkey joining the bloc, their ties with Europe and mutual commercial needs are likely to remain strong. IMO.

The economic ties to Europe are worth tens, if not, hundreds of billions annually. There are large amounts of products sold in Europe are manufactured in Turkey, mostly by European companies that have set up shop there due to lower wages than continental Europe.

Completely severing these ties to Europe would mean the loss of a few million jobs that's for sure.
