back to earth Posted August 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2014 - hello that is. I have been reading over a few threads for several weeks. Firstly I thought ... nah, too wacky for me here. But then I read more .... Then I checked out some history forums ( to further follow some research I have been involved in) and .... ... they seemed less informed, logical, sensible and professional than many here ... so here I am. My areas of interest are primarily cultural anthropology ... which spreads to ancient history, comparative religion, philosophy. I also have a long time background in Hermetics in various fields from astrology, through magick, alchemy, etc. both in theory and practice. At present I am exploring links between the societies and locations described in the earliest Vedas and earlier Avestas, and early pre- Alexander the Great Central Asian civilisation. I am also Australian and have a great interest in the indigenous traditions and peoples in my own land. (I read the threads on Australian 'hieroglyphics' with some amusement; I personally knew and have visited Ray Merton, the 'translator' .... now there's a funny story ! - I also have a great interest in Egyptology and 'neo-Egyptian magick' - I say that as ... who knows what they really did or how they thought ... precisely). I'm not sure where to start here ... I guess find my profile page and fill that in ... and then start having some fun . ( Oh yeah ... [media=] [/media][ Actually, I messed up right at the beginning - I chose the name specul8 and found the thinking dingo pic , but because I dont wanna be an alien embryo I thought I was changing that to 'Down to Earth' but I was changing my user name and now I cant change it back ( I am really bad at driving a computer along the internet ) So I guess I am stuck with being a down to earth contemplative dingo <shrug> ... could be worse I suppose.
