should race based sholerships be done away with. or should they be allowed but only as private funds. should coleges be able to decide what your skin color is before they allow you to attend their school

Should be eliminated. You do not fight racism with more racism.

I had no idea such a thing existed. I guess it depends on the research behind it... if there is significant evidence to show that black people are less likely to go College then I suppose an incentive is a good idea, but surely disproportionately low numbers of black college students can be explained by a variety of socioeconomic factors which should be covered by means testing. Therefore it seems fairer to award them based on income not race.

But to put it into perspective, all of the "race-based" scholarships go to the minorities that are stactistically under represented in university education. But as soon as they get to Uni, it doesnt matter what your skin colour is, everyone is judged by the quality of their work.

but i have heard that some of the professers judge according to party affilition. ie what they believe politically.
