Render Posted January 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2013 IT was so hot in the South Australian outback town of Oodnadatta yesterday that the local servo stopped selling petrol. The Outback town has been sweltering through one of its great heatwaves with the temperature soaring above 40 degrees every day this year, reaching a peak of 48.2 degrees yesterday. "The ground, the building, everything is so hot, you walk outside and you feel it's going to burn you," Pink Roadhouse owner Lynnie Plate said. Mrs Plate said the Roadhouse couldn't serve unleaded fuel after midday because it was vapourising and wouldn't pump in the extreme heat. http://www.news.com.au/national/too-hot-to-refuel-as-town-bakes/story-fncynjr2-1226549873359
Guest Posted January 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Titles a bit misleading to say the least. As If not been able to sell petrol is a feedback mechanism were a serious issue. Br Cornelius
Render Posted January 14, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted January 14, 2013 The title is to question the bigger picture. For example: It gets too hot to use petrol, where some say that using petrol is a big cause of the earth heating up. ==> self-correcting. Im not implying in any form that the earth is this sentient being that takes decisions to self correct. It's just a proces. Get it?
Ashotep Posted January 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2013 If the world stopped pumping fuel permanently then it might self correct over time. One country laying off one summer won't do it.
Hasina Posted January 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Maybe, maybe not. Climate change is always happening, the human caused portion of it could be stopped, maybe, but you'd have to get people to actually acknowledge human's can and do contribute to climate change, as does every other living thing, continent, river, ocean, etc.
