gabe Posted September 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2009 This is what I'm going fishing with It's a Shimano Telescopic sea fishing rod 8, with a shimano hyperloop 4000FB reel, and recommended for 20-50 grams.... And that's all I've been able to find out about it. Can you, out from this information make a guess, however wide and inaccurate, as to how much weight it can take before it breaks? Will this even be a problem unless I'm hunting REALLY big fish?
DevilDogPratt Posted September 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2009 The Shimano Telescopic Fishing Rods are perfet for travelling anglers pr those who might have storage problems with full length fishing rods. This Shimano Teloscopic fishing rod is 8' in lenth when fully extended and is a great light fishing rod rated for use with 5-8kg line and great for fishing in places such as rivers, harbours, lakes and jetties, Rocks, breakwalls and more. this is what i found. thats ll.02 to 17.64 pounds. not a huge fish but its pretty good. dont know alot about that rod. what are you fishing for? gabe Posted September 10, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted September 10, 2009 Thank you, Pratt. I'll be fishing in Lysefjorden, an don't know what kind of fish is there, except for brisling, but I've heard I can expect to get catches around 1 kg. 11 pounds is good enough for me, but I tested it on a 4 pound flask, and the bending of the rod is making me uncomfortable. Is fiberglass supposed to bend a lot? Is it more durable than it gives the impression of being?
DevilDogPratt Posted September 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) my dad took our fishing rods to alaska (ugly sticks) and they didnt come in half so he bent them in a U shape and stuffed them in side the suitcase so they were tight against the sides xD they made it, but it couldve been because they were ugly sticks, but i think ugly sticks only have the tips changed not the whole rods. id think youd be alright but im not positive Edited September 10, 2009 by DevilDogPratt
allen_iverson Posted September 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2009 a rod is supposed to bend and it will bend alot, just make sure you have the right line on or it will break your line that is
