Hermai Posted March 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Anyone read this? I saw the movie years ago and recently rewatched on Netflix, only to learn that it was based off an actual book. Keel is an entertaining writer and really draws me in, but so far I'm not sure how seriously he expects his reader to take some of the information he presents. Interesting ideas though, essentially saying paranormal phenomena being a condition of the planet.
lalalalana Posted March 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2014 I have read it after watching the film, I enjoyed it as a book to read but I don't really think I believe in the mothman. As I said though, it's a good read!
DeWitz Posted March 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2014 The Mothman is attested about as much as any other supernatural being or critter (Spring-heeled Jack; the Thunderbird; Chupacabra; the Jersey Devil). In other words, lots of sightings but no physical evidence of their existence. Mothman has the added cachet of presaging terrible events (the bridge collapse in the film). It's a true enigma to investigators, and a whole load of nothing to the skeptics.
Rafterman Posted March 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2014 It's entertaining, but that's about it. If you do some digging into the actual events, you will learn that 99% of what we know about the Mothman was a post hoc creation by Keel.
