[Arcana]

The Island



Once there was an island
With tranquil distant shores
A place filled with beauty
Where love set all the laws

Sitting within an ocean
Both hidden and obscure
Serenity always beckoned
Above the ocean floor

Palms swinged and swayed
Dancing all as one
On this tropical Nirvana
A jewel beneath the sun

I saw it in my dreams
I walked those sandy shores
I felt the soothing breeze
I watched in silent pause

The blue waves shimmered
Rolling along the beach
Bringing with them calm
Then ebbing out of reach

This island was within me
It soothed me to my soul
It gave me sanctuary
From life's demanding role

Others sometimes saw it
When looking deep within
Glancing at it's beauty
They'd share a knowing grin

Over time this island
It's land began to sink
Returning beneath the waves
Becoming indestinct

I never saw it happen
So gradual and slow
One day when I looked
It vanished down below

Swallowed by the ocean
Beneath it's fluid glare
There's nothing left to see
However long I stare

Is it lost forever
There is no guarantee
Somewhere down below
It rests inside of me

Arcana this is a lovely piece, written no doubt from the soul of a lovely man.

I started off thinking 'how lovely', as I read more I could feel the mood in your words changing, when I reached the end I thought 'how sad'.

It's a beautiful poem Arcana covering a mix of emotions.  It's really great to see you back on here

Beautiful! It surely sparks a light of emotion and i love the imagery. I could picture the very island you were desribing, even without the nice picture. Very great Arcana
