Evidence suggests it did. If the Carolina Bays are impact craters from it, then their alignments point to a place just west of Lake Nipigon as the impact site. No impacting object has been found in the Carolina Bays. Could they have been created by large pieces of glacial ice reentering the atmosphere?

Lake Nipigon was the site of a major pro-glacial ice dam that held back Lake Agassiz, then the largest freshwater lake on earth. At about this time the dam collapsed, spilling the lake's water into Lake Algonquin (Ancestral lakes Michigan, Huron and Superior). Lake Algonquin drained through the Ottawa River system, resulting in a major freshwater lens forming on the surface of the North Atlantic. This shut down the Gulf Stream, bringing renewed cold to Europe and North America, producing the Younger Dryas. Large critters like mammthos and mastodonts survived about 300-400 years after the impact, suggesting it was climate change that got them and not the immediate results of the impact.

For Little Fish: it took CO2 levels about 300 years to drop off to their Younger Dryas levels. CO2 lags comet impacts.

After the end of thr Younger Dyas, CO2 levels took about 300 years to reach their Holocene levels. At the time, humans were not putting out enough CO2 to make any difference.

The Younger Dryas ended almost as suddenly as it began. The event coincided with the collapse of the Baltic Ice Dam that spilled the Baltic Ice Lake into the North Atlantic. How this might have restarted the Gulf Stream is anybody's guess, but apparently, it did. Evidence of the Baltic Ice Lake is found today in a series of beach terraces about 30 feet below the surface of the Baltic Sea.

When the Gulf Stream restarted, it took snow fall only two years to go from Younger Dryas levels to 90% of Holocene levels. The temperature regime changed from glacial cold to balmy interglacial in just 40 years.

There was another collapse about 8200 yBP that ended the Altithermal. It was caused when a proglacial ice dam collapsed, spilling Lake Aggissiz-Ojibway into Hudson Bay. Lake Aggissiz-Ojibway was two or three times larger than Lake Agissiz of 4700 years earlier and, as far as anybody knows, was the largest freshwater lake ever to have existed. That was the dying gasp of the Wisconsinan Ice Age. There remains a small ice field on Baffin Island where the last remnant of the Laurentide Ice Sheet still survives, though probably for not much longer.

I work for the company the dig is on. I've been down to it a couple of times. Very interesting. On part of the site right near the river got flooded a while back. The investigation only restarted there last year. We have some of the find displayed in our main lobby.

The asteroid Apophis is coming around in 2029 and 2036. It's suppose to dip below communication satellites. Very close.

I pose a question!!! These uber comets/astroids/meteors whatever we call them today. If one was so big and smashed into us, then how can we offically guesstimate what weather and life was like thousands of years ago. Wouldnt that impact have shifted the earths course??? I ask this because several years back we had that earthquake.. that threw off the earth's tilt or something.... which "suposively" had an impact on our weather??? maybe im reading to many articles and crossing them now...... lol
