The Hard-won Triumph of the Apollo 13 Mission - 45 Years Later

When their spaceship was severely damaged 200,000 miles from Earth – 45 years ago this week, it was like a bad dream from which the Apollo 13 crew could not wake.

Moments after they finished a TV broadcast late on April 13, 1970, a spark ignited one of the oxygen tanks on the Apollo 13 spacecraft. The resulting explosion plunged an entire nation into an anxious three-and-a-half day drama.

Thanks for posting. I'll never forget, the relief when they splashed down. It was like I hadn't breathed in 3 days. I used to watch all the could when there was a moon launch. I remember being kind of disappointed the media really wasn't covering it like they did other ones. That all changed really quick.

I was six, about to turn seven and was so stressed that my Mom and Dad took me for a short late night night walk down by the lake.

I remember that the sky was clear and the moon was almost full. That was the only time that I ever heard my Mother make a prayer.

Mom and I slept in livingroom for 3 days in front of the TV. I don't remember going to school, unless it was spring break, I would guess I did.

Even though they didn't land on the moon, It was a great success that human ingenuity got them back home.

Its just the way we are hard wired ,Man is quite clever. Like all the Things we Invent and prove to then come to use on this world. .

Makes me really miss "Mid" He could really elaborate on this stuff !We know your watching & Reading Mid ! :tu:
