Work on the new sightings database is almost complete, and I can now reveal some of the features that it will include. The new database will go online along with the rest of the new web site which should be finished in the not to far distant future.

Features of the Sightings Database include:

Form based submission of sightings - this allows visitors to submit their sightings with minimum of hassle, whereas at the old Sightings Database required sightings to be E-Mailed.

Database browsing options - a number of pre-programmed searches will be available on the sightings database main page, allowing you to browse the sightings by category, location etc.

Advanced search option - if you are more adventurous you will be able to access an advanced search page, which will let you do your own custom searches using a variety of searching tools. You can search the database for UFO Sightings in London, for example, or search for all the sightings submitted by a certain user.

Database abuse protection - in addition to the above, the database will be configured to prevent users for accessing parts that they shouldnt be allowed to access, and from submitting rubbish or spam into it.

I will be including the stories and sightings from the current sightings database into the new one once I have finished configuring it, so if you'd like to browse the new database, or add a report of your own, then look out for it in the new site, coming soon.
