Good evening everyone,

I am a United States Marine who just returned from Afghan about 6 months ago. Haven't been on for about a year, but I saw some pretty interesting possible ghosts while deployed.

Just a quick background about the deployment: We were relatively safe and the only two fatal casualties we took were non combat related (minus some Afghan police guys.) But that's about all I can tell you. Overall, we were safe and I thank god every day that we were.

So, my first story is of a few of my superiors and colleagues sitting in the make-shift office we had in country. I was standing in the middle (there were three rooms and the building was kind of a line-like shape) and one side room where a few contractors worked out of. There were a total of four people in the middle section (the largest) and I was facing the back door. I saw what looked like my Lt step through what we considered the back door to the shop and enter into the contractor's office, he was wearing a FROG suit and everything. Nothing unusual about him. Even had the moustache.

Well, not thirty seconds after, we get a phone call, asking for said Lt. I said "hang on Sgt, I saw him come in, I'll get him" and stepped into the contractor's room. Nobody was in the room when I looked, I exited the office and opened the rear door that he had apparently opened, and looked around. Nobody there eiteher. So I came back into the office and said "Disregard Sgt, nobody is around, looks like i was seeing things." Then, my roomate a fellow Lance says to me "That's bull****, you and I both know somebody is in that room." and I just said "Nope. You saw it too. Someone walked in, and nobody came out, but nobody is there."

The second story I have is just weird. It was a little heat signature that would "pace" through the desert that we would see on some cameras. So we looked at it with different cameras and it wasn't there. Just kinda weird is all.

The last story involves the office again. I worked late every day when I was on day shift, so I was around the compound quite a bit. Well, it was about 2200 when I was walking back to the office, and I saw the door just open itself and stay open. I noticed nobody walked out, so I went right for it, walked into the office and looked around. Nobody was there, so I grabbed my really bright flashlight (like I said, our area was safe, I wasn't gonna get shot at by anything) so I shined it around the walled compound some, and didn't see anything. I got the chills and left...

In short, there's some pretty interesting stuff I saw out there. Overall, I think it reaffirmed my belief in ghosts a little :)

Did the Lt. you thought you saw die or was it someone that looked like him?  I have seen a ghost myself.

The only real camera shots I took were when I was on a convoy. Lots of sand and miscallaneous walls and stuff. Haha, that or in the hooch... I'm trying to upload my new profile picture (Dick Butkus is getting old) and it's not letting me

Lt. Jones is fine, it's just weird, it looked just like him, but it wasn't him becuase I had a visual on where I thought he went the entire time the occurence happened. People grow deployment 'staches all the time. There was also a memorial wall inside the command deck (right next to my office on the right side as you leave that back door) that had a lot of Marines that looked somewhat similar, but I only caught a brief glance of who/whatever it was

In a place where there has been so much death, I wouldn't be surprised if odd things happen.

Welcome back my friend. During my deployments I hadn't really experienced anything although I heard quite a lot of stories by people. The thing I noticed was, a lot of the claims were from GC's (General Contractors). After discussing their sightings with a few of them I believed a lot of what they were experiencing was stress enduced. Not saying that's the case with you  but, it's always a possibility. Again, welcome back and glad another of my brothers has made it home safe!

Hi LCp!

Great to hear you're back home safe and lovely to see a post from an American Marine! My family come from a long history of Royal Marines and British Army, my nephew a Capt in the Royal Marines returned safely from Afghanistan a few months ago alongside his brother a Capt in the British Army... so lots of respect to you and all the forces!

How interesting your post is! It certainly makes you stop and think of all the trauma that has happened out there! Was the person you saw as solid as a normal living human being?

Thanks for your post and best wishes

Yes, a lot of stress induced hallucinations.  Back on my 2nd deployment I was a 68W Combat Medic that worked for 4 months in a Field ER.  Sometimes worked 8-9 days straight with only finding time to nap for a few minutes in between medivacs.

Thats stress.

Thanks for all the well wishes everybody. It wasn't that stressful on my side, I'm just an intel guy... I was just down at the Battalion level for this last deployment. I won't exactly whine about what we had and or didn't have, becasue everybody who's deployed knows all the stories. But, yeah I guess I could see the stress induced stuff, it was just weird that myself and my old roomate (He was at a company at the time) saw the same thing... I'll keep you guys updated if I see anything at Lejeune

It is strange that your buddy saw the same thing you did. Anything is possible espically where you were.

Thanks for your service and the story.
