A Ghost Tried to Kill Me in My Sleep

Hi-

I should start out by saying that the girl I dreamt about was not random. She is a girl who I went to school with until she passed away recently (about a month or two ago). I never had a good relationship with her, in fact, we didn't like each other at all.

I had a dream (or a nightmare more of) last night that I was in a gym at my old school and I was working out when all of a sudden X (we'll call her X for the story) walks in. I start to scream at her "Go away? Go away!" and she just keeps coming at me. Then, she disappears and reappears in the mirror in front of me, and she becomes my reflection, Throughout the whole dream, she tries to possess me and tries to make me come into the mirror to come "with her" (pretty much come die and be dead with her), and it was absolutely terrifying. In the end I locked her behind the mirror but I knew that it wasn't for long.

Someone please tell me what this dream could signify, I've never had something like this happen.

Thank you in advance.

Well, I'm no expert or anything, but it sounds to me like the *things* you didn't like in her - those things you see in yourself. For example, if you didn't like her because she was *overly dramatic* -just an example to make my point- well maybe you too are *overly dramatic* and you are subconsciously realizing that the things you didn't like in her are being shown to you in your own reflection.

There's an old saying someone used to tell me..."If you SPOT IT you GOT IT" meaning if someone's character trait is bothering you it's most likely you need to reflect inward because you *got it* too.

Hope this helps. Otherwise, I don't know. Welcome to UM!

I think more or less along the same lines as She-Ra. You seeing the girl as your reflection is significant, and the idea of her trying to "take you over" could mean you're afraid that those negative qualities you share could become more influential on you.

There's also the fact she just recently died, and she'd be on your mind because of that. I think, if it's possible talking to a counselor or someone you trust about this could be helpful, but you already know it's a dream, so that's a good starting point.

Just a dream. Nightmare may be more fitting.

I would tend to agree with She-Ra, but Skep-B has something that I would definitely agree with it. She died fairly recently. That is enough to stay on your mind to show up in your dreams, or nightmares. Happens to me all the time. I'm not saying that is a fact of what is happening to you, but a big possibility. I wonder if you feel guilt about your relationship with her, and your dreams are trying to work it out.

Sometimes, I do feel there might be some 'communication' going on, but that's me and it's always open on how exact I believe that. And even the case, 'she' is showing up, I don't think she's trying to kill you. And if this is not a plausible explanation, just refer to the first part of my post here. ;)

You are dealing with internal conflicts. She is not trying to

Kill you, but the unresolved nature of your relationship with her is now an attachment. I wouldn't dwell on it to much, your psychi is just doing what it's supposed to. If it continues there are some things you can do to help the process.

Usually we hate those we are most like. Psychologists would say we are projecting our own disgust/rejection of our flaws on to those who have the same ones. Perhaps the dead girl appeared as a mirror reflection to you for that exact reason. And perhaps she wanted you to go with her to show you your own mortality so that you would take the flaws seriously that you both share, and work on them while you are lucky enough to still have time...while she no longer does.

I forget where I read this but it is said that in the physical realm we have the most potential to change and make that change lasting in an important way that serves us on the other side of the veil. Maybe your old enemy was actually trying to help you?

I recently had a disturbing dream, a total nightmare where a demon was attacking the **** out of me. He came lashing at me, beating me, trying to steal my soul, hurling objects at me and causing reality to swirl around me until I thought I was losing my mind...which is exactly what he wanted. He was p***ED OFF at me. I understand his reasons...long story. Anyway, during the dream which I was sure was my end, I suddenly became aware that the events were so phantasmagorically impossible that I had to be dreaming. In a string of nanoseconds I became incrementally aware of these things which can help anyone trapped in such a nightmare.

1. That any grotesque nightmare as such isn't possible in waking life.

2. That if it is so grotesque and impossible, I must be dreaming it; which I was.

3. Since I was dreaming it, the dream could end and it did.

4. I woke up panting from the anxiety it cause, but instantly upon being aware that I was awake, my heart rate slowed right down, then I became calm. Then I started to giggle at the lengths the demon was going to to "get even" and attack me.

5. When you laugh at your aggressor during a nightmare, if you can be so aware to be that lucid, it instantly diffuses the nightmare's power over you and that's that. It's over. You win.
