Communicating with spirits.

I hope this is the correct place to post this!

What are alternative methods of attempting two-way communication with spirits or "the other side" that don't include ouija boards? Are any methods more or less effective or risky? I've never attempted any form of communication and honestly still probably won't but I've always been curious.

Hi LavenderAmber,

the Ouija board is a game board, the risk does not lie in the board, but in the mind of the user and how far you want to go to freak yourself out. The same can be said with what ever you play with and how much you believe in and what you think can happen.

Please note I am a sceptic so this is my take, others will give you advice on what you can play with and what they see as less risky.

It depends on how curious you are and how much you want to believe.....but remember to look at the logical side before thinking ghosts or spirits 1st, if you find you can not find a logical explanation for something which happens if you decide to try something out, you can come on here and ask us for our advice. :tu:

A Ouija board is just a game, but it can also be a tool, like a crystal ball (just a ball of glass!), or Tarot.

I know people who have had bad experiences with Ouija boards, so I would advise you to not use one.

I'm not a fan of Tarot Cards either.

As Summerin1905 said, get a digital voice recorder, if you want to try two-way communication.

You can ask questions, and listen later to see if there were any replies.

I've never messed with boards, crystal balls, or tarot cards. I'm no medium, that's for sure! I think I will try with a digital recorder and see if I can pick up some EVP. I'll just have to be patient I guess. I don't live alone so it'll have to wait until there's no one else in the apartment. I also have a cat, haha. Hopefully that won't mess things up.

I've found the easiest to be EVP and/or a ghost box. I used the P-SB7. Ouija boards never worked at all for me. That said, there's no "safe" method that is not going to make your place grand central station for weirdness. You'll have to figure out which method works to keep away things that go bump in the night. For me, it's the LBRP and the Middle Pillar, coupled with Goetic seals for good measure. I got little quality communication, so I stopped making the effort. Your inner demons have a way of surfacing and becoming outer ones. There's definitely a rabbit hole to go down if you're curious, but you may find yourself wanting to claw your way back up. The process of expelling the unwanted phenomena is an ongoing one. For me it is a daily routine.

This was extremely helpful, thank you!

Best advice I can give is to forget about it.

Is there a reason you are considering this other than curiosity?

No, I've never lost anyone really close to me. It's pure curiosity.

Ouija boards are literally just cardboard or plastic with letters on it. There is nothing paranormal about them. You could use your computer as a Ouija board and ask the spirits to type something out for you. The fact of the matter is there is nothing that makes a Ouija board more "dangerous" to use than any other tools or devices out there other than a silly reputation.

However you view this, and you could view it from a purely psychological standpoint (which is no small thing)...if you do this, you're probably going to have experiences. Some of them...perhaps many, will be negative. In my own personal opinion, we do learn the most from our negative experiences. What you're essentially doing has been called "staring into the abyss." Think of it like looking into a mirror and being able to see your own soul. People don't generally like what they see when they do this, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

That said, it's not healthy to wallow in the negative aspects of one's psyche. Learn what you need to know about yourself, and then move on. Don't get caught up in the phenomena as if it's entirely external. It isn't.

I might add that some people don't have this choice. Events happen in their lives which pitch them, headlong, into the abyss...and honestly, unprepared for it. That was the case with me, and there were many things I had to come to terms with so that I could claw my way out.

Do I think I learned a lot? Yes, absolutely. Not what I thought I would learn, though.

If you think you're going to learn the secrets of the universe...that's not how it works.

It's a play on words. Spirits are also alcoholic beverages.

I know that. I was joking around. Failed sarcasm I suppose.

You are unlikely to have much success listening for EVP's in your home, unless you believe it to be haunted.

Try buildings that are old and/or with some history, or locations such as graveyards, churches, disused hospitals, etc.

I would say that quia is a nonsens. Good method by my opinion is meditation. Perhaps using sleep as it was common in ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, see translantions of magical papyri. But you must think twice before what kind of spirit you are calling. The best is summoning pagan gods and goddesses, or olympic spirits - see Arbatel of the magic of the ancients. Or angels. And you need a patience, take it a time .

If you absolutely have to communicate with an entity, I'd seek out the help of a median who actually knows what the heck that they're actually doing. I do not advise using a ouija board. If it were me that would be the very last resort.
