Still Waters Posted December 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2009 Leading circus elephants along the street, driving to work in a horse and cart or sending a message via carrier pigeon are duties which have long since disappeared from modern day policing.But as these photographs show they were all in a day's work for bobbies on the beat during the last century. The bygone images, which date back to 1904, give a fascinating insight into the duties of police officers at a time when political correctness and health and safety had yet to make an impact on the thin blue line.
