Would being able to locate water mains be considerd a Phsyic ability because my dad was able to do it when he was younger.

Dowsing has many times been considered part of nature and not a psychic ability. I have read accounts where the dowser claims anyone can do such and that they are simply led to it using their rods. It is still very interesting. Do you have any personal stories to share?

The old fashioned kind of water witch could find wells and underground springs and mains and such.

Your dad had a very specific psychic (natural) talent.

You might have the same thing.

I think that it is considered as a psychic ability.

I believe that all "psychic" abilities are actually natural abilities. Just like art, music....etc, some have a greater sense of one thing or another. Some people can sit down at age five and play the piano......some are tone deaf all their lives. If one has any talent, that they were born with, they should follow it and help it grow. JMO.

As the poster above me stated, all psychic abilities are natural. We all got them. The only difference is some of us are more aware of that aspect of ourselves than others, and some are able to get rid of old mind programming and indoctrination about such things being "fairytales" and what not and realize their greater being.

When it comes to the first posters question, this falls under the category called "dowsing" which is (or was) rather common, it was almost considered a completely natural thing back then (well which it is too). Dowsing can be used for far more than merely locating water though, it is a tremendously useful tool.

For some more general information check out this: http://www.tomgraves.org/oa_uc17

I really recommend the books Tom Graves got on Dowsing as they're rather in-depth and covers a huge area of uses and techniques.
