Still Waters Posted December 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2014 The world is on course for the hottest year ever in 2014, the United Nations weather agency said on Wednesday, heightening the sense of urgency around climate change negotiations underway in Lima. Preliminary estimates from the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) found global average land and sea surface temperatures for the first 10 months of 2014 had soared higher than ever recorded. http://www.theguardi...-climate-change

Doug1029 Posted December 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2014 I wouldn't panic yet. We're still a fair bit behind 2010. Doug
Michelle Posted December 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2014 I heard many people talking about how hot it was this past summer. These same people also work in an office and the only time they are outside is from the house, to the mailbox, to the car. It was around 100F for only about two weeks and the rest was fairly pleasant. If they worked in a place without air conditioning they would have known that.
Likely Guy Posted December 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2014 The seven day forecast says it's supposed to get to 5 C (41 F) next week. That's never happened in the middle of December in my 50 year old memory. (I live in central B.C., Canada.)
Ashotep Posted December 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2014 So far, next year that record could change. That's what's really scary. Seems to do that a lot this past decade or so.
Doug1029 Posted December 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2014 December will have to average 0.55 degrees C above the baseline. It has done that five times since 1998. That's a one-in-three chance. Doug
