Mr Right Wing Posted December 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2011 I think the next advance in cognition will come from computers. When we get to the point we can read peoples memories we could, in principle, reverse the process and write memories to peoples minds. That would mean when you turn 16 you go into the write booth and emerge 10 minutes later with your PHD in physics lol.
WoIverine Posted December 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2011 (edited) Not true at all. Areas of Einstein's brain were far more advanced than the brains of the average person. We have plenty of room to grow. Edited December 8, 2011 by Spid3rCyd3
Mr_Snstr Posted December 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2011 to spyd3rcyd3's post. Most definately. I think what we're really going to see allot of is a greater disparity between those with highly advanced cognitive functionality; and average or diminished functionality. Our current view of the "hyper-intelligent" is that of the idiot savant. One with an enormous capacity in one area; at the detriment of all others. But, I beleive this is a skewed view of the concept. Many historically great thinkers not only excelled in science, technology, theoretics, or philosophy; but also socially, politically, and/or financially.
