I didn't find any mention of the change in pneumonic vs bubonic. Did I overlook?

In the first article/video from Still Waters, it said that he (Dr. Brooks) identified what he considers was a mutation from the bubonic plague, borne on rats, to the pneumonic variant...

He does not specify how it may have mutated or why.

I am curious though, if it was the pneumonic variation of the plague, then why is the 1348 pandemic called the "Black Plague"? The name suggests the black buboes that appeared on the body.
