Exotic form of elusive material may have sent comet hurtling towards Earth

It is an elusive material that cannot be seen and is made of an unknown substance, but we may owe our very existence to dark matter if a new theory proves to be correct.

A leading cosmologist believes there may be evidence that an exotic form of dark matter was ultimately responsible for the catastrophe that wiped out the dinosaurs.

Professor Lisa Randall, a theoretical physicist at Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts, believes an unconventional form of dark matter may have provided the 'kick' that pushed a lethal comet on a collision course with the Earth.
