Implantable Microchips

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, or does this seem just plain creepy?

The potential for this technology to be misused seems to great to me.

Before we go any farther, what do you mean by microchip?

I have no issue with a microchip in my hand that would allow me to "scan" for purchases, bank transactions, identification and things like that. I also don't have issue with it having GPS to track me.

What is it that would be an issue?

Where in the bible does it say "microchip"? The sign of the beast? ON the forehead or ON the hand. Not in. AND you would have to be forced to take it and renounce jesus.

Besides, I don't hold much stock in a 2000 year old book of stories and myths.

Not the bible, qu'ran, torah, dianetics, vedas, bom, none of them. :)

I still have no problem with microchips.

No one has given me a reason to be concerned either.

I'm at work, I cannot listen to a youtube.

Just tell me what it says please.

ETA - ok, nevermind, don't explain it to me.

I clicked and read what it's about.

Like I said, vague stories in the bible mean nothing.

There is no evidence supporting the stories.

I'm wondering if anyone has a real reason to worry about microchips.

St. John dictated the Apocalypse to his apprentice in a Patmos cave, while exciled by the Romans, in the Ellenic-greek language.

the word "xaragma" has been translated to "mark", which is inaccurate by any translatory standards. a more correct translation would be "engravement" or even "tatoo". the word "mark" is was chosen to give a more arbitary meaning to the action of receiving the seal of the antichrist.

the verichip by the company called Digital Angel could well be that "xaragma" or even a simple barcode would suffice.

the ultimate truth, in my eyes, is that we are falling towards a totalitarian global regime. pre-planned and orchestrated whith is final chapter unfolding in our times.

the chip is a reality in our everyday lifes, rfid's are used below the barcode stickers of numerous products, in cars, animals, why not us?

in order to force the reality on the massses some things have to happen yet, starting with a global economic metldown making people homesick of the sheeplinsh life they used to have.

IN TO ORDER TO BUY-SELL, REGISTER, DRIVE, OWN, RENT, EAT, SLEEP, BREATH, DEFICATE, WHO WILL NEED THE CHIP.

NO LIFE OUTSIDE THE MATRIX THEY HAVE CREATED IN THE PSEUDO-REALITY YOU EXPERIENCE SINCE BIRTH

The bible and other religious texts are not valid sources. They ONLY mean something to those that believe in them. I don't. Neither do millions and millions of others.

Ok, so your religion is what makes you concerned and scared of the chip. Fine, but that doesn't work for all of us.

Good question. Why not? I can't think of a reason why not. I would have chipped my kids when they were little if it was around.

Most people carry a lot of electronics around with them, be it phones, music players, computers etc etc. What's stopping people from spying on you now? Most people are tech-illiterate anyway and ARE being spied on by corporations, but for advertisements. Spying on 6 billion people wouldn't be easy, or even getting any relevant data from the massive amounts that there are certain to be. The amount that people rely on technology today would be enough to call us primitive cyborgs.

Moving a phone from my pocket to my ear is a convenient upgrade. I will be an early adopter for sure when such technology comes out. Forget the days of lugging multiple devices around in your pockets. Losing them or getting them stolen would be a non-issue too. I don't see creepy, I see awesome. But then again for paranoid tech-illiterates its another deal. Too many movies. What if someone can track you on GPS? Are you planning a heist? Be serious now, for the average person this brings better security and a higher level of integration, but then again I am forgetting that "security" and "integration" are sinister words and only herald the absolutism thundering inevitably our way.

No one is going to force you to get an implant in the future (which there will be). Though I think having the ability to check-in the moment you step into an airport skipping all the lines and luggage stuff can shave so many hours off of air travel is a good pro to consider (also tickets will become cheaper too), unless you happen to plan to be the hero of minority report.

Implanted chips isn't something 'that' new, been used on dogs for a while and no one finds that creepy now do they? Also have been tested on prisoners already, so where do you draw the line?

If people wish to spy on you as mentioned above, they already have the means to via using your phone, and can listen to your convos even if your phone is turned off, quiet frankly if someone wants to watch you, 'ruin your life' or 'kill you' if determined enough or have the means, they certainly can...so erm.

Personally I myself do not want an implant in me, but that is from a non-relgious point and more over I'd like to think I have some sense of control of my self, even if it is an illusion.

AGREED! If some one wants to know where I am and has the ability to hijack a GPS grid/satellite then they are gonna find me. :) Chip or no chip.

Like you said as well, no one is really going to look at me anyway. :P Way too average and boring.

Hiya Puri!

I agree with this as well! I have my dogs chipped. Has come in handy. They went for a walk, were found, scanned and returned to us.

I would love to not carry a bunch of cards. I would love to not carry a driver's license.

Heck, I'm still open-mouthed-amazed that I can talk to people all around the world like George and Jane Jetson.

And is about a long dead emperor called Nero.

Why would you trust a book that has its history wrong to predict the future exactly?

Does anyone but me know anything about RFID chips, out of curiosity?

I'm not sure I understand how I would be giving up any of those things any more than I am now.

My phone is an Android. It can show when I turn around. My car has OnStar. My laptops have GPS and security that can track them. My keys can beep when I lose them. My house is on Google maps and has a security system. My cats and dogs are all chipped.

I use credit cards and debit cards. I use email, text messages and NOT twitter. :P

I would really just be carrying less crap around.

I know that when you get one you get super powers.

No, they aren't they have about a 2 foot signal range at most and hold very limited information. They can't collect information, they store information placed on their. You can't track location using them, they can test your blood. All they can do is provide information already stored on them to specialised readers at close range.

Sup ^_^

Loving the passive RFIDs handed out at the ski resorts here in Sweden. Read a nice article about RFID a few days ago given to me by a friend. Delved nicely into some of the privacy issues that people seem to have a gripe about, but I think the privacy thing will be a non issue. It's quite easy, as a person to inhibit communications between receivers, but then you would have to resort to taking out the necessary "pass" every time anyway which completely negates the advantage it was giving you. So if you can't live with it I'm sure there will be alternatives.

I don't really understand the problem with these things. TO be fair, the laws will have to be adapted, so that no abuse of such systems is allowed, but all in all I still don't see the problem.

And like you say, if you don't like it an alternative will probably made possible as wzll.

well as for me. I'm not going to get chipped and traced then have to scan my hand to do something. It's pretty much the same thing as saying you give up all your liberties and freedoms to do something else. I shall not get chipped because of that. And the first person that tries to stick me with one is going to find them selves getting up off the floor...expecially if you're not given a choice.
