Not sure if you're even interested any-more, Paranoid (as you haven't been back to the thread since you created it), but if you are, here is an interesting article/podcast about this subject.

I'm still interested, still reading all the responses.  Just haven't given further input myself, because I really don't have any further input to give.  I haven't had a chance yet to listen to the Podcast, so we'll see when we finish.  But (at least in the shows I buy on DVD) shows with 22 or 26 episodes a season still have a high quality rating.  Perhaps because I'm a sci-fi fan, but shows like Star Trek, Farscape, Stargate, have very few poor episodes (not that they don't exist, some episodes should never have made it to tv, but the majority of episodes are fantastic).  And these all run for 22-26 episodes per season (one season Star Trek Voyager went for only 20 episodes, but that's the exception here).

My blog is now taking a new direction.  Dedicated to my father who was a great inspiration in my life, I wish to honour his memory (RIP, dad) by sharing with the world what he had always kept to himself.  More details, http://www.unexplain...showentry=27811
