I re-iterate... the Usual Suspects here can find nothing whatsoever good in his speech. They do not even stop to engage their brain with sensible interrogative questions - just denunciations.
When people get like this then you know they have already lost, given up on improvements, given up on engaging with the "how to do it", and are just left with the "Cannot do it" mentality. it is self - defeating, and they would like nothing more than for any initiative to fail.
You are doing your Nation a disservice!!
It is time for the Reps to stand up to the plate and to make meaningful contributions to the debate instead of simply whingeing on and on because their team lost (again).
You know, youre a usual suspect too. I know when you post it's gonna be a trashing of obamas opposition as if we are speaking to you personally. Like all liberals you are extremely predictive. Every single time I encounter you it's the same thing never with any substance and always with disdain for those who don't think the way you think they should think. The only one not getting over things is you not getting over that many of us oppose his ideas. Why don't you get over the that and contribute something substantial to the conversation.
I found plenty of great and wonderful things in his speech though the problem is that every great idea he had involves some type of government interaction or program.
He advocated smaller government while at the same time promoting more government programs.
He advocates getting out of debt while promoting more and more costly government programs.
He advocates investing in things and getting a R.O.I. as if the R.O.I.'s he spoke of have any factual evidence to back them up. If anything, the numbers come from predictions and you shuld know how prophets are viewed by realists. Most of all he speaks as if it is the governments job to make investments with our money. Hell, we all know by now he is a degenerate gambler. Solyndra? Fisker? Every green investment in the stimulus? All flops...
He advocated everybody having the chance to succeed out of one side of his mouth while trashing the successful out of the other side.
He talks about fixing roads and bridges as if it's the way of the future when in fact that is one of the first things our tax money should be spent on before all else.
He's a good speaker and if you take his words at face value well I could see how you'd like him so much. He has a knack for sure but if you consider the least bit how all these things are going to happen the way he thinks they should, ie federal programs, then you'd see it's all gonna cost money and liberty somewhere down the line.
Honestly, I'd love for America, the wealthiest nation in the world, to be able to do all these great and wonderful things and make everybody happy and successful but the two things I consider are thus far the government has proven completely incapable, incompetent and unwilling to be responsible with the money we give them now and that America was never about one big collective koombyah so much as it is about the individual pursuit of your own happiness and individual control of ones own path and desires. That doesn't mean you have to or will be greedy and selfish about it. It just means that you don't have to consume your whole life taking care of everybody else or having everybody else take care of you. Basically I wouldn't mind paying taxes for all these wonderful things but government will screw it up and they already steal enough from me as it is. If you want to make someone's life better than do it yourself or start a charity. I help people on my own. In my world I am the go to guy for most everybody close to me when it comes to needing a hand but I will absolutely never stop complaining about my unwillingness to help people like the Obamaphone lady. Hell, she's actually a happy person it seems but if you feel she deserves a better life, you help her. I have enough on my plate.
So far as associate degree level high schooling I think that sounds nice but it isn't going to work here. Mainly because the PC police will scream about fairness and dumb the testing back down to high school levels. That way everybody gets a fair shot. An associate degree isn't worth squat anyways if you don't land a job in that field and how many high school kids know what they want to do anyways? Want better education? Get rid of the teachers unions and let schools and teachers compete. Stop keeping crap teachers around because of their union contracts. Hire and fire based on merit and success rates. Ya know, like a report card? That way only the best of the best will stick around and the schools that can't get their acts together won't be around to give kids sub-par education. There will always be hopeless students but that's a different issue that lies within upbringing. I don't mean less than intelligent kids. I mean the trouble makers and disrupters.
