New York City looking to ban e-cigs

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's crusade to rid the City of all things unhealthy has taken aim at various fattening foods and harmful products like cigarettes and trans fats. He even once tried - and failed - to ban large containers of soda within New York's five boroughs.

But Bloomberg's now gone a step further - not only does hizzonor not want you to smoke cigarettes, he doesn't want you smoke fake cigarettes, either.

Why are people tolerating this nutcase?

I don't like E-Cigs either but whether this person likes it or not, we all are responsible for our own health..not some mayor.

He should stick to real issues and keep out of peoples personal lives.

Sounds like Bloomberg really knows what is best for New Yorkers.

I hope he soon passes a law that requires all citizens to remember to keep breathing, else I'm not sure the city would survive!

What an absolute lunatic. If you look up "Nanny State...they need to put a picture of Bloomberg by the definition.

The liberals and progressives just do not get why people get upset about things like this. My life, my body, my choices and I am fully capable and prepared to live with the rewards or consequences....

Insanity....I hope for New York's sake they get a decent mayor who will stop trying to impose his/her will on the personal lives of others.

Excellent post and might I add well put..

One thing that I know so many people tend to forget is, if everyone stopped smoking, the government would loose billions of tax dollars that is paid through the tobacco companies.. The government takes a huge chunk of the cost of cigs for taxes.. If this all went? They would have to slap a lot of tax on something else... Its the same over here too, that's why every time there is a budget, the chancellor will up the price of cigs to gain more money for their government..

e cigs hurt real cig buissnes,i see a lot of ppl use them, that means they don't buy real cigs, i'm more inclined to think bloomberg actually trys to save nyc cig tax income than anything else. nyc looses money if real cigs aren't bought. e cigs are not taxed as real ones, and nyc gets nothing from selling e cigs, besides 8,65% (iirc) sales tax

Why are people tolerating this nutcase?

in case you didn't know, ppl can't do anything about it. and don't use "vote him out" myth please.
