In view of its very striking, tantalising image, the photo attracted much interest, and was subsequently reposted twice by Loren Coleman on Cryptomundo (16 and 22 April 2009) with further requests for information. It has also been featured on many other websites. Yet although numerous opinions have been aired as to what it depicts (a shot bigfoot, bear, gorilla?) and whether or not it is authentic or photo-manipulated, no conclusive evidence as to its true nature has ever been obtained and presented - until now!

EXPOSING THE 'DEAD BIGFOOT PHOTO' - THE BEAR FACTS AT LAST! - A SHUKERNATURE WORLD-EXCLUSIVE!

I just started using photoshop at the time and was amazed at the press it has received. I did this to see how the finished product would look like for myself and sent it in on a lark and not to miss lead anyone.

...

If someone would have asked me 10 years ago if I made the image I would have told them yes.

I did not know it would be an issue after this long. I posted the image just to see what the response and speculation would be. Again if asked I would have said I made the image.

I had an anthropology teacher who said he was driving on the res one day when he came upon a naked, skinless man hanging upside down from a tree.

Like most people with a full ph.d in the early 70s he did just what anyone would do, pulled over to see the naked murdered man. After looking across his back for bullet wounds or punctures he moved to the front only to be shocked to discover somebody had replaced the man's head with a skinned animal head. So he called out for help.

A couple of young man emerged from the woods and asked what he needed with their bear.

Bear?

Oh yes, brother bear.

Bear?

Yes, we were gathering the last materials to thank him for his sacrifice.

The young ph.d examined the corpse and was shocked at just how closely the beast resembled a man when hanging naked, skinless from a tree.

I wonder how hoaxers would feel being hung up like that and how long it would take them to scream to be let down.

Gimlin took this photo in 1967 after Patterson eliminated the only witness of their hoax...
