Be aware that there is an email making its way around that tells you to delete a legitimate file on your computer, claiming that it contains a virus. THIS EMAIL IS A HOAX. More information here;

yes indeed there are a couple of these sort of hoaxes going around, a general rule of thumb is never delete something just because someone forwarded an email to you saying that you should. Always check first - the best place to start are the various Anti-virus software providers eg McAfee, Sophos, Symantec, F-secure, Computer Associates et al. Or for that matter Hoaxbusters.http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/HoaxBustersHome.html

If it's alright with Gareth, I'm going to leave this at the top for about a week so that everyone has a chance to view it as a reminder.

* Another very good site to check regarding email hoax's, real and imagined computer viruses,  and internet inspired urban legends is www.snopes.com.

Thanks Magik,  :)

I had a few of these coming around a while ago.  What does anyone gain from sending this stuff around?  :-/

well some of them are started just for malicious reasons, and others like this are started because someone has found a file of that name infected by a virus and not realising it is a legit file which has been infected and instead believing it is the file itself which is the virus have sent out these warnings.
