KenInSC "....to the point that for every so called "expert" that claims it's real and offers up the reasons why, there is another "expert" that shows valid points on why it's a fake."

Ain't that the truth!

After the P/G got digitized, one expert  I read said he is more convinced than ever itis a man in a monkey.

Perdsonally, I always thought it was a man in a monkey suit until it was digitized and stablized. one view... the creature walking away, it surely looks like you see crack in the butt. It looked like a real creature to me for the first time.

KeninSC - NEXT POST: "Does it not strike you as odd in any way that almost forty-five years after the PGF came to the world stage that no one had seen another Bigfoot that they were able to film?"

yup <grin>, sure does. I think about it, and I am a BF believer. However, I never considered myself inflexible. there are issues like this that makes it look dim

  • The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues. Liz Taylor

Well, I stop short of calling myself a believer, I am however, open to the possibility. That is based on the experiences of two men I knew well and personally who never met or knew of each other. Which is a good thing really, because if I was left to go with what I've seen on the web then I'd be a card carrying disbeliever. However every now and then you see something that makes you go, "Hmmmmm? Maybe?"

Some claim the lack of any more "Patty" videos just means she was the "last" of her kind and may now be extinct and the rest are hoaxes.

1967.....

45 years now since the " Patterson " film came out.I consider this the " big one " that sparked most of the interest in " Bigfoot ".....

45 years is a long time for a lot of people to be looking for a large primate in the USA.

I am just wondering, how many years of no body, no DNA, no fossil's, and only fuzzy blurry videos, and proven hoax's will it take before the percent of people that believe drops below 5%.......

How many years would it take for you not to believe anymore, if you do believe?

75, 100, 150 ?

It has been well more than 45 years now.......

Just curious to those that do believe.

So i take it you dont believe that they exist?

Allow me to coat your toast with some butter for you. As long as they'll be eye witness accounts of bigfoot sightings, it will never stop being believed.

I can't say that I believe in Bigfoot I can only say that I believe it might be possible.  Its going to take one stuffed and mounted for me to believe that it exists.  Pictures may prove many things but its too easy to fake a picture for me to believe they exist because of a picture.  I think it is fun to think they may exist and makes for a good story to tell around the campfire.

I think the bigger question is: Why does it bother you so much that people want to believe in bigfoot? Is it hurting you any? Does having someone believe in bigfoot hinder your ability to, say, walk to the grocery mart and pick up a gallon of milk?

If it does, pat yourself on the back and check into the nearest clinic. You might have severe narcissism.

As has been said, there will always be 'true beleivers' who refuse to accept the weight of evidence.

And TBH the same goes for most other cryptids, monsters and the like.

As time goes on and the actual evidence is not forthcoming, the reasons and explanations for that lack of evidence need to be more and more 'creative'.

Eventually you can even see a merging or convergence of fringe theories with claims that one thing with no evidence actually supports another.

Then someone will usually write a book!

Oh! Oh wow! You haven't heard the worse then, yet...have you? They're talking about making a religious cult thing out of this and making Bigfoot the Jesus Christ and mother nature his father in nature. They will also be making sacrifices in the woods, using 10% of their yearly crops and farm animals, to the divine Bigfoot and nature mother father, whatever. And it get's better, they will select a pure individual (a geeky virgin with a poison oak infection), to become a priest who will meditate on the moral instructions from nature (being one with nature, of course) and Bigfoot, that will be given the 9 commandments to carve into the great oak tree, of which the divine Bigfoot uses to scratch his hairy ass. BTW, there is actually ten, but there is not enough room on the tree for the 10th commandment, so they're saying they'll just haft memorize that one and pass it on to their children by word of mouth.

And, and...most important of all, they plan on spreading the good word of the divine Bigfoot from house to house. With pamphlets and weekend brochures that goes by the title of: Bigfoot Watcher's WatchTower.

Yeah so, I'm pretty sure your're wanting a giant asteroid to hit the Earth right about now. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know so you could contemplate on that.

Funny, but not so far from the truth.
When people believe in something for long enough without any evidence, what does it become?
Folklore, a cult, a religion?
