Hello, im 12 years old, and im at grade 6. I always loved science fiction, gene engineering, unexplained mysteries, scientific theories, space/time psychics and other cool things, but im currently only studying biology, and cant find out much about genes, molecules, quantum psychics, physics, my teacher is stupid, the only thing she can tell is: read the book(biology book we learn from), nothing good there, nothing good that she can tell me, so i wanna further educate myself in all those things im very interested in, i wanna know, not only be interested, i want links, info, anything u have guys, and nevermatter that im a kid, i dont need any childish explanations, i want pure science that everyone( grown-ups and kids) like.....Maybe u wont understand me, but if you have anything post it here, thanks.

You remind me of me. :P

I recommend using Wikipedia to get started, you should be able to find most of what you want there. There's a good thread going here (Click) where you can ask any science related question and we'll be able to answer.

Don't skip over the basics of biology or chemistry and physics. As boring as you may find it, you'll need it to understand everything else. The ATP in biosythesis, basic cell structures, simple ecological models, classical chemistry, newtonian physics. Make sure you get all that stuff before you jump into quantum physics, genetics, evolution and such. There are a lot of well written popular science books out there. Start at your local bookstore. You can't go wrong.

I'll join Capeo in emphasizing the basics... that includes math. Without applied math you won't be able to understand much of science.

You sound like me at that age!

Well as already said, the basics of science are THE most important. Master them, and you are well on your way.

Of course, if you want to learn say physics properly, you will need advanced math. It takes time, remember that!

I am at university studying science and I still find it difficult kid. But I enjoy it. I want to know the truth. I am on a quest of THE knowledge and THE truth. So enjoy it! :D

Did I see space/time physics their?

Try this first.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_relat...y_for_beginners

And I suggest reading the "Elegant Universe" and "Fabric of the cosmos"

both by Brian Greene, he is at the forefront of the theory of everything IE string theory.

When it comes to genes and biology I do not know very much, I myself am trying to go into astrophysics or quantum physics, I just cannot make up my mind, this senior better make a choice!

When I was in 6th grade I felt the same way, then I discovered their was a lot I did not know, so just wait till the end of middle school!

i hate school

your there to learn and then they spend all day talking about carp you learned last year.

and when you complain they tell you to do research on your own time.

if we can learn more then a silly luttle school can teach why do we get judged on just school alone.

Sorry to rain on everyone's parade but Wikipedia is not a great place to start. Not everything that is put in there is regulated, so who knows what "facts" you are reading could actually be false. Stick to a library and if you use Wikipedia check and compare other credible online science sources to see if all the "facts" match up. So goodluck. :-)

your best bet would be to google it. or you can go to the library, or to the book stores. that would be the most appropriate advice. good look and keep moving forward- towards your goal-dont ever give up even if you think there is no way- there will be....

If you are 12 and just begining your (possibly) future career in science I would not recommend reading advanced string theory nor advanced BB inflation. Nor would I recommend the scifi websites (unless they are in the context of scifi).

Wikipedia is an ok place to start to browse for answers to questions, but remember Wikipedia is open to any users, its best to independently verify any 'facts' you read on there. I would suggest a library card is a great place to start as well.

Like others have said, Foundations cannot be stressed enough. Also check around on the internet there are many good reference and help forums for science like; http://www.biology-online.org/biology-forum/, http://www.physicsforums.com/ and http://www.chemicalforums.com/

just like everyone said. go through the basics and follow through what you like.. you can't learn them all..

You sound like a mighty unusual 12 year old, Sciencelover!

I'm just plain impressed.

Education is a life long process.

Take what these folks say and run with it. Study the basics, absolutely (repetition is the key to really knowing your stuff). And listen, you've got 6 more years of school coming at you. You apply yourself, and do really well....you'll get alot more information as you go along (look, they don't call it "high school" for nothing). There's still some pretty good teachers at that level. You get there, and they'll recognize talent when they see it, and the next thing you know, you'll be sitting in some college classroom, fully equipped to get into some really cool stuff!

A 12 year old who even knows the term "quantum physics" is just plain impressive!

I wish you all the luck in the world!

Thanks all of you for understanding me, i dont really know very well what quantum psychics mean, i just like all those space-time thingies(well u know) :P So i love this forum. Btw, yea i cant just read everything u guys gave me, i must choose one path, for the moment. I could be a scientist of any way i choose, but only one "topic", one big topic to choose, the most interesting for me, and to further educate myself in it. Thanks for all your links :P

Ill use the psychics forum at 7th grade, it will be atmost helpful.
