Gop have lowered their expectations saying Obama is likely to win most debates. Due to previous debate experience.
Though I will add that the GOP are still confident in Romney securing the election.

Mitt strikes me as someone who is honest and forthright but not as good an orator as Obama, and he can't play a crowd like Obama can.

If you think he is honest and forthright you have only heard one of his speeches...

This is not new. Every election for every politician from president down to school principal plays this game - it's called "Managing expectations". If you can lower the expectations for your guy to a point where nobody can be disappointed in him, then if he does better than that everybody thinks he won.

Reagans handlers back in the 80's were masters of that - basically as long as Reagan showed up to the debates and kept his senile drooling to a minimum he was considered a winner because they would set the bar for success so low.

Very true but the Obama team did the exact same thing,.  In fact, in a campaign stop Obama played down his own expectations of his performance in teh coming debate

You really are something else.   Regan 's debate with Carter in 1980 is widely regardced as one of the finest presiidential debates ever.  The famous "There you go again." line and "Are you better of now than 4 years ago." turned the numbers around in the poll and signaled the beginning of the end for Carter.  Your nasty, angry and insulting sentence above  speaks volumes about your ability or lack thereof, to rationally view and judge political speeches and debates.

Hindsight is 20/20 and it looks like Obama had very good reason for downplaying his debating skills and Romney did far better than most thought he would but get over Reagan and try and see through your blind hatred of the right deal in reality now and then..  :td:
You asked for Obamamerica, now you are going to get it.  Stand by for suck.

How do you feel now that Romney has crushed Obama in the first debate?

Nice distraction from the anticipated results.
