That's a common belief but it's not true. Totalitarian gov'ts do not trust their citizens....we are taught that in school. The Socialist Party of Germany did not fear it's citizens. Hitler was the most popular leader Germany ever had. He never had to worry about someone shooting him as they do in the US. The notion of banning firearm ownership was totallly alien to National Socialism. Before Hitler even got into power the previous gov't put lots of restrictions on gun ownership but when Hitler came into power he changed all that. He encouraged the people to own guns and beleived it was important for a man's character. Again, the firearms law enacted by Hitler's government enhanced the rights of Germans to keep and bear arms; no new restrictions were added, and many pre-existing restrictions were relaxed or eliminated.

Oliver Stone has on TV a documentary out now....about the untold history of the US...10 part series. It's really good and shows the truth about the US and it's past. You can see why they are not liked around the world. It's an eye opener. I think the last episode in on next Sunday. It's worth watching if you are interested in the truth. http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/video/2012/nov/19/oliver-stone-new-documentary-petraeus-affair-obama-video

As World War I drew to a close, the new Weimar Republic government banned nearly all private gun ownership to comply with the Treaty of Versailles and mandated that all guns and ammunition "be surrendered immediately." The law was loosened in 1928, and gun permits were granted to citizens "of undoubted reliability" (in the law's words) but not "persons who are itinerant like Gypsies." In 1938, under Nazi rule, gun laws became significantly more relaxed, and the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, passed Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. Rifle and shotgun possession were deregulated, and gun access for hunters, Nazi Party members, and government officials was expanded. The legal age to own a gun was lowered. Jews, however, were prohibited from owning firearms and other dangerous weapons.

This is despicable, trying to slander a organization without any proof? NRA should sue this group for slander and so should the gun owners. Real Americans protect and understand their constitution. Seriously getting tired of immigrants from other nations coming to my country, then trying to change the foundation of our nation because the concept is foreign. Then there is the liberals... don't get me started on them. They can do other productive things instead of slander or try to shred my constitution rights apart, it is sickening.

Germany was disarmed by the Treaty of Versailles, among its other punishing sanctions for losing WWI. Hitler wanted nothing more than to arm his Aryan race to the teeth and that's exactly what he did. Compulsory service to his hyper-nationalistic quasi-fascist dreamland was also a big part of the deal. Men sitting around wastefully clutching their privately owned guns and Bibles at home didn't serve his interests. Joining the Hitler Youth and indoctrinating yourself from a tender young age for the greater glory of the Reich, did. Or ultimately, at a stiff old age in the Volkssturm.

To address the OP, the 2nd Amendment is more relevant today than it ever was. Much of the problem with our collective mindset is a failure to understand the wording of it correctly. It would be politically impossible to reword the right to bear arms because the government we have today doesn't have the conscience that our Founders did. But if it were any manner of politically possible, a couple of letters in a single word would change so that some of our people don't get lost in their own deliberate or accidental misunderstandings, and the 2nd Amendment would read today:

A well regulated Military being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I have much respect for the veteran in this video, for one, for serving his country.

As he said, "for oil, for the banks, or for whatever."

But he fought for the rights of every one in the room at that forum.

Some times it takes the person who fought for you to knock a little sense into you for taking your rights for granted.

Just noticed a few of your Avatars in this thread and for a minute thought, Sauron disarming the free people of Middle Earth would've completely secured his domination of all Arda.

What I don't understand is why we take anybody who claims that...... (fill in as needed) is a Nazi seriously. They have disqualified themselves by using that comparision.

In reality, Sauron was trying to overthrow Middle-Earth to have a seat to fight against a rising Dragon empire in the east that was stirred by the two blue Wizards of Gandalf's order. But the point and comparison you made was true enough. He would have at least taken over Middle-Earth. :P

Interesting, never heard that at all. From what I can find online about it, no one else seems to know as well. Very cool though! I'm almost wondering if Aragorn's remaining armies ever had to deal with the dragons.

That's why there were no dragons in Sauron's armies; the dragons went north and east. There were dragons in the armies of Morgoth in the War of the Wrath, in which a dragon called Anacalagon The Black served the darkness. The dragon was larger than three mountains and was defeated by Eärendil the Mariner, the father of Elrond. He defeated him only through the help of the Eagles and a powerful, glowing, flying ship called the Vingilot; which was helped built by Círdan, the oldest Elf in Middle-Earth; one of the keeper of the three Elven rings, Narya - which he secretly gave to Gandalf when he arrived in Middle-Earth.

It's a complex mythology...

Either way, back on subject, the people behind this forum seemingly advertised the forum about "Guns and public safety."

In the end, it seemed they unfortunately wanted to blast the NRA and gun ownership.

Does anyone really think the Gov't is trying to disarm the US. I don't think so.....they are trying to make it difficult to get Military Style weapons that kill a hundred people in a minute. Also.....the fact that there are only 34 gun deaths in the UK and 12,000 in the US kind of speaks for itself. Same with Canada and all the other country's that have controls on the guns. I am just thankful I don't live in the US. Nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Too much Paranoia to the point of delusional.

NY State is far worse than the UK is right now. At least you guys dont have some ****** ass News Group coming along and releasing a list of everyone's Name, and Addresses on a Interactive Map on the internet in NY State who owns a Hand Gun/Guns ******* Legally. And then claiming we as Legal Gun owners don't have a right to privacy and claiming its for "Protecting other Citizens" o some bull **** answer like that. Treating us like Level Sex Offenders. And yes i am on that list without my permission.

To specifically label all responsible gun owners as Nazi is slandering millions upon millions of Americans who take pride in gun safety and protection for their family members in such a dangerous times when there is gangs and illegal foreign militias. They take tragedies and use it to further their ignorant agendas of removing guns from all legal American's hands when it is them that protect their rights and liberties from those that like to see our nation fall. We are allowed to have our guns to protect from foreign or domestic threats, that includes our government if they feel the need to make us more proficient like China currently treats their citizens.

So when they go about slandering citizens or servicemen who sacrifice their normal lives to protect our lives or our interests that make our life so much easier, this p***es me off so much to the point that I don't even want to be part of this nation anymore. We as Americans must remain ever vigilant against those that want to deprive us of our rights or liberties, even if it is misguided smaller groups that think it is a good idea when it is exactly the opposite.

Famous quotes from our founding fathers and other influential figures in history:

"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." Wendell Phillips

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, than tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands that feed you; and posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." Samuel Adams

"If we become a people who are willing to give up our money and our freedom in exchange for rhetoric and promises, then nothing can save us." Thomas Sowell

"The trade-off between freedom and security, so often proposed so seductively, very often leads to the loss of both." Christopher Hitchens

"No man is entitled to the blessing of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation." General Douglas MacArthur

"A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one!" Alexander Hamilton

"Those who profess to favor freedom, yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder or lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." Frederick Douglass

"Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people." John Adams

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free... it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson

"The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all." John F. Kennedy

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and the government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will become the legalized version of the first." Thomas Jefferson

And a quote from me... what I said while attending an town meeting for banning guns.

"Try to understand what our founding fathers said, they knew this would happen, they tried to prepare us against this corruptions, ignorances, and tyrants. If you don't heed their call, we will be nothing but slaves instead of patriots in the pages of history." Mark Dusty Morgan AKA Uncle Sam

"It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

Samuel Adams
