You are preaching to the chroir, Stellar. The idiotic laws the government are trying to implement are just that...idiotic, They are meant to appease the anti gun activists and will do nothing against gun crime.

If there isn't going to be stiff sentences for people who try and kill someone with a gun what makes you think they are going to throw someone into the slammer for having a gun unsecured?

Well, part of what I'm saying is that stuff sentences do have to be enforced. It doesn't matter what the law says, if it's not enforced, people will break it.

Case in point...

http://www.chattanoo...-Of-Police.aspx

He had two additional warrants from a prior incident for attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
Houston has a lengthy criminal record, including a conviction last year in state court for being in possession of a handgun with felony convictions. He got a two-year suspended sentence.
He got another two-year suspended sentence in 2004 when he was charged with unlawfully possessing a weapon.

I am sick to death of these guys getting off over and over again.

It's reminds me of the story about the little girl who was watching the news with her parents. They showed a mug shot of the guy they were looking for and she asked why the police didn't keep him when they took his picture? Out of the mouths of babes...

I just saw his criminal record and he has 45 arrests, most of them felonies. I'm a little more than upset because this happened near our business. Everyone in the neighborhood was on alert until he was captured, thankfully this morning. Maybe they'll keep him this time because he shot a cop.

This should be a subject of great concern that has been placed upon the people. Without proper education of guns, and validation of mental state, should we begin entrusting school's Faculty & Staff with the protection of our youth? If one wishes to help educate the young, they must be prepared to wield a firearm, and require the ability to kill an intruder if necessary. Is this good news for the typical class clown? Granted the teacher equipped with a gun might put an end to the class clown's unwanted "humor," but what if not, and that teacher just so happens to snap? Surely s/he would lose their job and the right to carry a firearm however that doesn't help change the repercussion on the kid's well-being.
