Misshapen pears, ugly apples and tiny onions will be sold in British supermarkets for the first time in years after the dismal summer weather ruined harvests.

The wettest June ever recorded, the coldest July since 2000 and hail storms in August have all stunted the growth and damaged the skin of British fruit and vegetables.

However in response to a campaign by farmers not to waste “perfectly tasty” food, supermarkets have been forced to relax their rules on cosmetic standards so scarred potatoes, smaller carrots and blemished plums are allowed on the shelves.

The display of produce will look like shops of the 1950s, before supermarkets started insisting on green apples and straight carrots.

I feel extremely dumb. It never crossed my mind they would throw away misshapen foods.
That is extremely disgusting and wasteful of them. Hopefully this could be a positive in disguise. For the second time.
Everything and nothing is impossible.

It makes sense both are what makes each other.

Almost everything from my garden seems to be misshapen compared to what is on the grocery store shelves anyway, so I'm used to it. :)

It's ridiculous, isn't it?!

Curiosity is insubordination in its purest form.
