Fairie Posted December 31, 2003 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2003 This topic has probably been done to death, but I'm a new user, so I haven't a clue. I was recently given a set of tarot cards and have used them once or twice. I had loads of preconceptions that they were something bad because people always seem to link them in with Ouija boards. Personally I don't think there anything more than do-it-yourself horocopes, but more fun. Does anyone have any experiences or opinions on Tarot that they could share with me. Agent_21 Posted December 31, 2003 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2003 They are just cards with images printed on them. In and of themselves tarot cards can't harm you; it depends on how you use them. I think that some uninformed people are intimidated or put off by some of the imagery. I have about a dozen decks and as far as I'm aware they haven't brought me any disasters. The neighbours think I'm weird, but then again I know they are.

Fairie Posted January 1, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted January 1, 2004 Thanks for setting my mind at ease a bit. I have found them quite helpful because I can always link in my own life with the cards meanings. I don't think there's anything weird about having them. the set I have is really beautiful. The pictres are lovely. Fairie.
Kismit Posted January 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2004 A dozen decks A-21 ? your just greedy Fairie , what kind of a deck is it ? Who created the artwork for them, because I allways felt that made a bit of a difference. Mind you I only have one deck perhaps if I had as many as our Agent friend I'd change my mind . and another thing according to my Mother and her mother before her ( just threw that mother before thing in for a laugh don't actually know If Granma read cards ) being gifted the cards is the only way you should get them , you should never buy them for your self or they will just end up getting lost . I lost 3 decks before my husband brought me my 'Connelly' deck 10 years ago . I still can't get over how many Decks A-21 has ......... he's wierd

I lost 3 decks before my husband brought me my 'Connelly' deck 10 years ago . So that's why I used to have 24! Weird... I'll tell you what else is weird: sitting in front of the computer monitor with the lights off, as I do, and a flashlight shines through the window from the neighbouring garden. Hope it's not the tarot thieves.

dancin'hamster Posted January 1, 2004 #8 Share Posted January 1, 2004 Hi Fairie Ahhhhhhhhh Tarot Cards ......... another subject that seems to get people hot-under-the-collar! They are just cards - CARDS! Some decks are beautiful - some are a bit airey-fairey and some are kak. But they are just printed images on card. I have three sets and my favourite is the Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot. I did my dissertation in Art History on the deck (painted by Lady Freida Harris etc). It makes me laugh when some people associate 'evil' with the Tarot. If you can read Tarot Cards, you can read an ordinary deck of cards. They are simply letting you tune in to your intuitive side. How many packs Agent? And for the most hilarious Tarot Decks - ask Cuffy very nicely and he'll send you the link. I love the 'Hello Kitty' deck - but sadly I cant seem to order them

I love the 'Hello Kitty' deck - but sadly I cant seem to order them Is that the Tarot of the Cat People? It looks cute, although I don't have that particular deck - yet. I quite like the Thoth deck as, like Hammy, I appreciate the art of tarot; Salvador Dali's set is particularly good. The Karma Tarot won't be popular here since there seems to be a lot of clown haters around. It has a lot of circus imagery. I usually stick to the traditional favourites Rider Waite or Golden Dawn packs if I fancy a quick shuffle.

Can't say I believe in Tarot, but as an art form, they're fabulous. Here's a link I have to a wonderful site. http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/ And here's another Hello Kitty card:

Agent_21 Posted January 2, 2004 #17 Share Posted January 2, 2004 ohhhhh thanks for the link..... I have found the ones I want Thought U would've liked the vampire ones. I do - must come from hanging out here too often. no cooky's or jellies tho. Do they have a who deck? Now there's an idea for an artist wanting to make a name for themself. I know who would make a great devil and what would be a good chariot. You've got one Ace already sorted. The cookie idea might extend to a suit (wonder who the Queen of Cookies is?) As for Jellies...The Hanged Jelly...The Wheel of Jelly...Death Jelly? Might work. Not sure how well it would sell.

mynameisphil Posted January 3, 2004 #22 Share Posted January 3, 2004 Has anyone ever had a Tarot card drip with blood. Well, it happened to me. It was blood literally. It was more like a red syrup. But it was blood-like. I was just doing a reading and it was suddenly all over the cards with no explanation. What the heck was happening? I have meditated on this but it is the one mystery I can't solve. Help me if you can. ...phil www.mynameisphil.com

faerieclay Posted January 3, 2004 #24 Share Posted January 3, 2004 Its is true they are just cards...i think from an old french game??? correct me if am wrong. I used Playing cards when I was around 13 to get used to the symbolical effects of numbers and the cups and swords etc...were switch to diamonds and clubs. They are just an aid, a tool. I feel that they possess very little energy but almost a kinda signature (thats only way i can describe )that u get comfy with. Then u can start using the tarot. and getting results. Soz if that sounded like a heap-a-bull.
Agent_21 Posted January 3, 2004 #25 Share Posted January 3, 2004 Death jelly hmmmmmmmmm jelly with arsenic in it? I'm not coming to tea at your place then if that's the kind of thing on the menu. Raspberry or aspic?
