If there had been time, Marie Exley would have liked to start a family. Instead, the 32-year-old Army veteran has less than six months left, which she'll spend spreading a stark warning: Judgment Day is almost here.

Exley is part of a movement of Christians loosely organized by radio broadcasts and websites, independent of churches and convinced by their reading of the Bible that the end of the world will begin on May 21, 2011.

Yeah, ive heard of that. Some other threads have been made on this too i think.

Im pretty excited to wait and watch nothing happen.

Especially because im getting annoyed of seeing billboards here for it. Waste of space.

Lul wut? That's makes no sense, it doesn't match what Revelation says. They're just making it up now.

"Beyond the shadow of a doubt, May 21 will be the date of the Rapture and the day of judgment," he said.

The doctrine known as the Rapture teaches that believers will be taken up to heaven, while everyone else will remain on earth for a period of torment, concluding with the end of time. Camping believes that will happen in October.

"If May 21 passes and I'm still here, that means I wasn't saved. Does that mean God's word is inaccurate or untrue? Not at all," Warden said.

Sounds like they're already making excuses. "Oh look, nothing happened. That means the Rapture did happen, but nobody was saved."

Yeah I have seen a few threads about this too, mostly I think it was a follower that was pushing their agenda instead of any sort of discussion. Thought I would we could look at it from another point of view. Whats more is that it seems to be picking up speed.

Really? I have not seen the billboards. Maybe its too hot for them where I live.

That date is wrong. The truth is that the world will end every single day for the next fifty years.

I saw a bumper sticker on some dude Beemer in Sedalia CO few years back on which it was written the day of rapture this car will be empty so I asked him if I could get (in writing) after his rapture ... he threatened me of calling the cop.. so I guess he didn't really believe in the thing.

The more I think about this... the more idiotic it seems. They're not even following their own Bible. Revelation clearly states that it takes at least 7 years from the start of the end of the world to the return of Christ. Even if we discount that, there's meant to be a lot of screwy stuff that's going to happen, including the deaths of one third of the world's population. Unless all that crazy **** is going to happen in twenty days, I don't think we're going be seeing the end of the world any time soon.

Isn't predicting the future supposed to be some sort of no- no according to the bible? I mean, isn't the end of the world supposed to be an unknowable date.. so divining the date for the end of the world sort of fall under the witchcraft area?

I just find the whole end of the world scenario a hoot. Folks that buy into that are saying what amounts to, they can't wait for everyone else in the world to be destroyed, so that one faith in such stuff can be vindicated and proven correct. Or they think it's just a great thing they'll finally be able to lift off out of a world they otherwise; 1.) saw as damned. 2.) saw as damned until a concentrated effort of salvation had been forced on or presented to everyone in their reach. 3.) Couldn't wait to leave because their smug pride let them believe their God hated the same people they do, and now those people will suffer while their haters live in paradise because they were good people in the process of feeling all that hate, contempt, bigotry, for their fellow humans.

Come May 21st, there's suppose to be a Rapture. Come May 22nd, I'm going to go to a website dedicated to the day and announce.

HELLO ALL YOU DAMNED CHRISTIANS! SURRRRPRISE! w00t.gif

Meanwhile, people that create after the rapture emails, for a fee, and after the rapture pet care, for a one time lifetime payment, know where the money is. Probably because they paid attention to Tusser.

Yes and no. Date setting is a big no no. But we are called to be watchmen on the wall. We are also to use events in the stars for signs. Several signs were written to let us know when the end would be near. Many pertaining to the destruction and rebirth of Israel. Many believe that the time no man shall know the day nor hour of pertains to the rapture. Cause from the book of Daniel we know right down to the day when the end will be. From the day Israel confirms a 7 year peace treaty between them and "many" it will be exactly 7 years from that date that Christ will return.

As for Dec 21 2012, I dont believe any Christian can say with any biblical authority what will take place. But if we are to believe that God made the sun and the stars for signs and seasons, its quite possible the date has some form of relevence. Astrologicaly speaking, its a huge event. One thing I think I can say with certainty, is that the bible cannot support that date as the end of the world. Nor can it even be used to argue that the rapture of the church will take place on that date.

There is only a very small sec of christians that believe the rapture will take place in May of this year. I know you probably think Im looney for what I do believe. But please dont paint myself and most of the christian community with that huge brush.

One last thing. These folks who claim the rapture will be in May of this year are constantly saying they found this in the scriptures, but never really say exactly how they came to this conclution. All Ive heard is that I should search the sriptures myself for it. Well as someone who has been through the bible several times now, through direct reading, and study courses, I just dont see it. Also, from what Ive heard, the guy who invented this has been wrong predicting another earlier date already. I really feel sorry for a girl like this who has fallen into this trap. Her disappointment will probably be devistating to her faith.

Now, in terms of meaningless and made up astrology, why is 2012 significant? What is it about the stars/sun around that time?

Its a alinement of the sun planets and stars that only happen's something like very 5000 years.

Its what makes that calendar actualy pretty amazing. With thier limited means to look at our solar system. Its neither made up, or meaningless. Its actualy pretty cool.

I was actually quite specific as to the folks who believe in Rapture May 21, 2011 and October 21, 2011.

Thank you. :)

This is only one method that can save you my son. On the hour of the end you must perform an ancient ritual in order to avoid distruction.

*jazz hands*

and then what mr. monkey?

Then a new world shall appear but it shall be different than the old one so that people complain that the old world was better than the new. Then shall the great beings hand out forms asking for honest feedback on the changes they have made to the world. And they shall take this feed back and see that the people did whine, but having put so much effort into the change they shall ignore the feedback and claim that this new world is much loved.

Oh, Then thats wrong.

There will be no alignment in 2012. Even if there was, it would have no effect on us.

the world will end when it ends. there are no clues in the bible for when it will end. if there was the bible couldnt claim that only god knows when it will end. god, not the angels or the son which means if it was in the bible the angels and the son would know when the end is.
