itsnotoutthere Posted September 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) EU spells out climate finance proposal 09 September, 2009 The EU will tomorrow pledge an annual contribution of €15 billion ($22 billion) a year by 2020 to help developing countries fight climate change, according to a draft European Commission report. The report states that by 2020, developing countries will need around €100 billion a year for climate change adaptation and mitigation measures. Up to half of that would be covered by public money, says the report. The rest should ideally come from the private sector through the carbon market, which could generate as much as €38 billion a year for developing countries by 2020, it says. EU member states would cover up to 30% of the public sector contribution, or €15 billion, while the US should contribute up to 24%, or €12 billion. link :- http://www.carbon-financeonline.com/index.cfm?section=lead&action=view&id=12333 Your thoughts. stevewinn Posted September 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2009 my thoughts are. its time the United Kingdom left this political Union. how far are we going. Miliband D. was going on about this a few days ago, then later the same day his brother Ed milli appeared on newsnight saying it was our moral responsibility to subsidise these developing countries. these two clowns cant be for real?. The countries who need tackling on Emissions are China, the United States, India and Russia, these four countries out of 194 world wide account for 56% of emissions. GreyWeather Posted September 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2009 Why do giant governing empires always spend money on anothers house. When their own is held up with sticks?
Mr Honeybadger Posted September 10, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2009 With so many countrie's economies as bad as they currently, this sort of nonsense is the last thing money should be spent on. Maybe in more prosperous times. But certainly not now.

SQLserver Posted September 10, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) Good work! Kudos to the European Union. It is of utmost importance to end the use of fossil fuels worldwide, and not just in our Western nations. Now, we just need to up the work done HERE. these so called developing countries. have mostly been around as long or longer than the usa. so why are they still developing. Geographical differences are solely to blame. and as i said in other threads climate change is just a fancy welfare program. Climate Change is a scientific fact. It is a scientific theory that humans are contributing to the currently changing climate. How a scientific fact or a scientific theory qualifies as a "welfare program" sure as hell beats me, not to mention the rest of the scientific community. Jezz guys, can we work a little on fixing the sentence fragments? Caesar was the only poster to this thread to have a post which did NOT contain a sentence fragment. stevewinn Posted September 11, 2009 #11 Share Posted September 11, 2009 climate change isn't scientific fact. so lets not go down that road of misinformation, and your the throbber who likes scientific data. A report by the British government out a while ago, shows that in our attempt to cut emissions to meet targets and coupled with the fact the government hasn't planned how to produce enough energy, Britain within eight years will see power cuts. I can tell the world right now, I refuse to sit in the dark for some man made climate change theory.could you image power cuts in winter, thousands of people will die, mainly pensioners whose only form of heating is electric. so the UK government better get its house in order. We live for today not tomorrow.
