Still Waters Posted February 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2015 The toymaker behind Barbie has created a new doll inspired by the Loch Ness Monster myth. Lorna McNessie is one of the latest additions to Mattel's Monster High, a range of characters that also includes zombies, ghosts and werewolves. She is described as the daughter of the Loch Ness Monster and is from Rotland - Monster High's version of Scotland. http://www.bbc.co.uk...slands-31535505
bubblykiss Posted February 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2015 As a ginger I can firmly say that doll is not representative of my people. She does not have enough freckles but does have too much soul.
Eldorado Posted February 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) As a Scotsman without freckles or a ginger napper, i say.... is nothing sacred, you money-grubbing gits? She's our cash-cow, not yours! Edited February 20, 2015 by Eldorado
Indiogene Posted February 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Gingers are so picked on at grade schools, they are (literally) an anagram of the "N-word", another group of people picked on (even worse). Doll makers like Mattel want to encourage good, healthy self-esteem for girls, so they make dolls representing many groups of people: Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, even transgender and wheelchair-bound. What about a plus-size or big-boned doll? HELLO? Is Matter accused of promoting false, unhealthy body image expectations for girls? YEAH.
Q-C Posted February 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Monster High? I'm so out of the loop... My mind asks: So... her parents are a Scot and a r**ing&pillaging Nessie? Probably why I didn't get the job when I applied at Mattel.
Oniomancer Posted February 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2015 They got the skin tone right for a Scot. The design just looks like a mashup between the Lagoona and dragon dolls they already have.
Crabby Kitten Posted February 24, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2015 I'll stick with my Clawdeen Wolf dolls.
