Almost certainly it is fake, but with so much of this flooding the Internet, it might become impossible to sort out the genuine items from all the hoaxes.  These hoaxes may all be someone's idea of a joke or there may be a more sinister purpose behind them, just flooding the Internet with all kinds of crap so no one will take the subject seriously at all.

I just had to commit or vommit on this one  LoL,I would look near by for the StingRay craft he crawled out of since hes only three inches tall He`s no threat to us !

Yeah, I saw a topic I didn't read about government saying there are no mermaids and I thought why the h*ll would they say that! must be close to a something else they don't want people to know about.

Then I saw the end of a "mermaid" show on history channel. I could see some possibilities of a old species of fish developing arms like a frog, if it were old enough why not more intelligent like dophins.

I came to the opinion about 25 years ago when I heard a big fish tail in Florida. The fisherman swore it was true but it was brushed off as being a seacow sighting. I never saw one but I try keep an open mind to new species being discovered especially now when the oceans are polluted in so many areas,  undiscovered fish may migrate differently.   I wonder now what would make a big issue of the possibility of the mermaid legend having a link to a real species?  I smell lots of rats not mermaids!

Also on his youtube page he said he released it into the ocean. Yeah okay.... How convenient.

That thing must be tiny. Look at the scale of it compared to the sand grains or the small stems and stuff hanging around it.
I would say that thing is 5-10cm in size max.

Looks like he filmed a little plastic alien doll stuck in a beach diorama setup on a table. Probably used a stick up through the bottom of the diorama into the aliens head so that he could make it look like it was raising itself.
The rocks in my head fill the holes in yours.
