seeder Posted April 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Ive had some bad dentists, not this bad though.... 'Dentist of horror' Jacobus van Nierop jailed in France A Dutchman dubbed the "dentist of horror" has been sentenced to eight years in jail in France for mutilating the mouths of some 120 patients. Jacobus van Nierop, 51, "took pleasure" in causing horrific injuries to patients in the small central town of Chateau-Chinon, prosecutors said. He was banned from practising dentistry and fined €10,500 (£8,140; $11,900). Van Nierop fled to Canada when suspicions arose and strongly fought extradition to France in 2014. The court in the central French town of Nevers heard that patients had suffered broken jaws, recurrent abscesses and septicaemia from van Nierop's work. He had drugged patients then mutilated them as they slept in his dentist's chair. http://www.bbc.co.uk...europe-36140189 . Can be - but not if your in a private health fund...or go to a public health care facility if you are eligible. There is also a new and better scheme kicking off from July 1st - for those (poorer folk) who have concession cards. http://health.gov.au/dental
Only_ Posted April 27, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) Gosh, nothing to reassure people who are already afraid of the dentist. I'm glad they have caught him. Edited April 27, 2016 by TruthSeeker_
Crabby Kitten Posted April 27, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2016 Why was this allowed to go on as far as it did? Surely the mutilation of the first patient would be enough to arrest that weirdo.

Had several root canal jobs in recent times, and the bill looks a bit steep to me.
